10 THINGS I LEARNED ABOUT
DIGITAL STORYTELLING
FIRST – come up with an idea or prompt
• What is the purpose of your digital story?• What reaction you want from the viewer?
SECOND – research, explore & learn
• Look for the right resources that will work to make an effective digital story
• Learn how to use the technology
THIRD – write a script
• You must have a written story in place• Decide the division of the script, parts,
acts, rounds, loops, flow, etc.
FOURTH – storyboard / plan
• Decide what are the most effective pictures to make the digital story appealing
• Be creative and make it interesting
FIFTH – gather or createimages, audio & video
• Choose the best possible pictures, audio & videos to attract the viewer
• Look online, use personal items, record your own voice, use music or create your own
SIXTH – put it all together
• This is a long process• Make sure your recheck your planning• Continuously save your work
SEVENTH - share
• Decide what avenue on the web your wish to share you digital story
• Make links to make mass sharing
EIGHT – feedback & reflect
• Ask colleagues for feedback because they might have a different approach to things
• Think what worked and want did not work
NINETH – have patience
• Expect things to go wrong with technology• Have a plan B & work around an obstacle• Have a time out & redo work again
TENTH – seek new technologies
• Do not be afraid to try new things• Making mistakes allows you to learn• Share your knowledge and tech skills
