Activity: Abstract Number Painting

Step 1: Divide the compositional space into three spaces vertically and eight spaces horizontally.

Step 2: Select a favourite number and create a list of symbols or words to express the number you chose.

Step 3: Select a three colour harmony.

Triadic: This scheme uses three colors. They are evenly spaced from each other. (example: red, yellow, and blue)

Step 3: Select a three colour harmony (cont’d).

Anagalous: This scheme uses adjacent hues. (example: red, red-orange, and red-violet)

Step 3: Select a three colour harmony.

Split-complementary: any hue and the two adjacent to its complement. (example: red, yellow-green, and blue-green)

Step 3: Begin applying your colour scheme.
