BUT the inconvenient truth is never ending

Although Thai government has approved the construction of National Water Management Systems, the programs primarily focus on flood reliefs rather than flood defenses

So if I had the opportunity to meet the United Nations Secretary General, I would …

I would ask the UN’s Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) to share the innovation in flood defense infrastructure

Example Case : The Metro Colombo Urban Development Project in Sri Lanka, supported by the World Bank

Purpose : Reduce flooding in Colombo by using special techniques to improve the city’s drainage networks

Also, I would ask the ADPC to educate Thai people and key organizations about excellent flood preparedness

Manage risks & operate business with

an emergency plan

Understand causes of flood & basic defense

Build sustainable flood control infrastructure Be active to deal with

unpredictable disasters

Build the social non-profit organization (or center) for all kinds of the natural disasters - Raise fund in advance of the disasters - Educate people & share knowledge

without boundaries - Support the well-preparedness - Be the center of collaboration

Lastly, I would ask the ADPC to strengthen the performance of Thai National Disaster Warning Center (NDWC) with the global practice

The intense collaboration between ADPC and NDWC can considerably relieve damage & save people’s lives
