In front of countable and uncountable nouns.

Some: in affirmative sentences.Any: in negative and interrogative sentences.A lot of: in negative, affirmative and

interrogative sentences.

Examples:Some: I need some new shoes.Any: Do they have any friends? I don’t have any money.A lot of: The baby has a lot of toys. Do you drink a lot of fruit juice? We don’t buy a lot of clothes.

In negative and interrogative sentences.Much: in front of uncountable nouns.Many: in front of plural nouns when we refer

to a group of people and things.

Examples:Many: I didn’t get many interesting presents

on my birthday. How many English teachers have you

had so far?Much: How much water do you drink a day? I haven’t got much money to spend.

A little: in front of uncountable nouns.A few: in front of plural countable nouns. There is / are: at the beginning of the

sentences.There is before singular nouns and there are

in front of plural nouns.

Examples:A little: There is a little cake left. A few: I invited a few friends to my birthday

party.There is: There is a problem with your passport. There isn´t a good programme on at the TV.There are: There are twenty students in our class.There aren’t five dogs in our house. In questions ..........Example:Is there a problem? Are there two books?
