So, why should we consider assistive

technology?

The Law Says: Any item, piece of equipment, or product system,

whether acquired commercially off the shelf, modified, or customized, that is used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities. (Tech Act, 1988; ATA, 1998 & amended in 2004)

Provides the means to move, speak, read, hear, see, be more in control of the environment
