Jonathan Shaw will explore what is at stake for the future of universities in the age of Open Education: OpenCourseWare, MOOCs, TED, Wikiversity, The Public School et al? Risk taking workshop When faced with a broken and out of date methodology, structure and systems, how do we as academics and practitioners find our purpose, value and relevance within 21st century higher education? In this workshop we will re-imagine what the art college should look like? Not in terms of it’s architectural characteristics, but rather the tools, skills we, as learners, educators and practitioners, will need to make this 'place' an effective, enjoyable environment to experiment and work together to help create and propel the next wave of creatives out into the big wide world! Could we collectively devise the new art college that will put the present one out of business?
