Introduction

-A lack of recycling has been a major problem in the United States for decades

-Mandated programs were placed• In schools and companies around the globe

to promote recycling

-These programs were short-lived• Recycling has remained a neglected issue in

today’s society

Previous Approaches/Solutions

-Advertisements • Commercials and billboards to encourage

recycling

-Mandatory programs improved the lack of recycling

• Canceled due to violation of laws in many states• Couldn’t be enforced

– i.e. Recycling programs prohibited recyclables in garbage for any place in Seattle from homes to business.

-Business raised their voices against programs

Spark

•What if there was a garbage bin that recycled for you?

Ideal Solution

• Recycling bin that separates any item thrown into the bin into its appropriate department. – There are 5 departments within the bin:• paper, plastic, glass, metal, and other (this

compartment includes food, garbage, and other items)

How does it work?

• The recyclinator has:– 5 separate departments with space

taken into consideration for each– censors that distinguish each item

placed into the bin– a scale that measures the density of

each item to help determine which department it should go into

– a system that transports the item into its appropriate department

Possible extras

• Energy converter from compressing materials– The compressor would make the garbage

take less room at local dumps

• Automatic dispenser (would also reduce time and effort to empty out the bin)

• Pleasant phrases when using the bin to encourage use (off switch included)

Risks

• The mass production of these bins is more expensive than the use of normal garbage/recycling bins

• Not every place might want to utilize these bins

• If offered to the government to place in dumps it might accepted

Rewards

• Increase recycling around the world• These all-in-one bins can reduce the

amount of work needed to clean cafeterias, offices, etc.

• These bins save companies money used on garbage bins.

• Job opportunities might rise to fix machines as they grow old after implemented

Ways it can pay for itself

• Creates energy therefore saves money• Can create a positive image for

communities and companies– This can result in more support from the

general public to communities or companies

• Possible plans with recycling industries can give:–Money back for the plastics and scrap

metals recycled and sorted by the machine

Conclusion

• Our device is a way to go GREEN while doing minimal effort

• Helps make the step towards a better tomorrow easier

• It has the capabilities to pay for itself• Even if they arent personal they can be

implemented at your local dumps through request

• Gives a good image to communities and businesses

• Is it worth it? YES!!
