• Use only these questions and the client’s words• Ask several times, in any order• Ask about things they seem to like and enjoy• Have fun!

As person A talks about something which is important to them, person B:

1. Listens exquisitely2. Is distracted3. Listens exquisitely again

Chimes will mark shifts between these kinds of listening

Questioning for clarity

Some basic Clean Language questions:• What kind of X is that X?• Is there anything else about X?• Where/whereabouts is X?• Is there a relationship between X and Y?• And that’s X like what?

Questioning for motivation

For this activity, you will need two problems which can be stated in a short sentence.

For example:• My desk is untidy and I can’t find anything• I feel unfit and ought to get more exercise
