Col Prem Singh Dogra, son of late Lt Col Chain Singh was born on December27, 1943 at Jammu. He had two brothers. His father was a retired Lt Col of 9JAK Rifle.

He completed his schooling from Col Brown School Dehradun and remained asAthletic Capt of the School. He got selected in NDA and then in IMA and joined hisfather's unit 9 JAK Rifle in 1964. He got married to an eminent educationist of JammuSantosh Dogra, daughter of Col Kanwal Singh, who was Military Secretary of MaharajaHari Singh. He was blessed with three daughters who are married in good families.He fought the Indo - Pak war of 1965. He also did Commando Training Course andwas Dagger holder. Later he became Instructor in Commando Wing. He also did thetenure of Instructor IMTRAT, Bhutan. It is rare that he commanded 9 JAK Rifle as LtCol and then as Col which was commanded by his father. His unit actively took part in1971 Bangladesh War for quite a long period. He also served as Centre Commandant ofJAK Rifle Centre Gwalior. He retired as Colonel in 1994. After his retirement he gotinvolved in Ex-servicemen League and remained Vice President of the League. He wasrunning NIIT at various places in Samba and imparted training to rural youths.He breathed his last on November 1, 2018 due to cardiac arrest. He is survived by hiswife, three daughters and grand children. May God give eternal peace to the departedsoul and courage to the family members to bear this irreparable loss. Col Prem Singh Dogra
