The Burger King in Yorktown is owned by David Sutz and Peg Canniff since 1989. David and Peg have a strong belief that giving back to the community that they do business is a major factor in their success. We strive to empower our team in the restaurant to integrate into the community that they work in-
we are grateful to have Matthew Fitzgerald in our employ who is our ambassador in our Yorktown Heights Burger King. Matthew is involved in many activities in the community including the Chamber of Commerce. Matthew is truly our leader in the Yorktown Community and we are very proud of all of his accomplishments. David and Peg own 3 other Burger Kings in Westchester and try to maintain the same culture of supporting those communities as well.
How do you feel about your health? Can you say that you are where you want to be with your health to enjoy a long, vibrant life?If you said,’ Yes!,’ that is great! But if you are concerned about aging, being overweight, or even worse, the threat of chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease and cancer, then working with a health coach can change your life and in the end save you money.I started my company, GLAD for Health, as a result of my own issues and goal to take charge of my health in order to fix what I called “being broken”. In 2011 I was working in my consulting business and stressed to a breaking
point, gaining weight year after year and worried about the chronic diseases that could start showing up based on family history. Then I decided it was time to refocus my business problem solving skills on myself, got training and here I am!Health coaching is about guiding clients, helping you to get the right information, talking through issues, finding motivation and holding you accountable. Using real, whole foods and lifestyle changes I can lead you to make measurable changes to your health without being on or off a diet, without counting calories, points, etc. and without feeling deprived.Contact me to schedule a free 60 minute Discovery Session to get started. Then we’llset up a plan to begin your journey in better health.I have lived in Yorktown for 26 years and want 2017 to be the year to focus on the people in my community. What a great night for the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce! On May 18th, we celebrated “Yorktown’s Best of…Awards Cocktail Reception” at Travelers Rest Restaurant and it was our pleasure to honor some of Yorktown’s finest: Irene Amato as the Business Person- of- the Year, Yorktown Auto Body as the Business- of- the Year and the Yorktown Police Benevolent Association as the Organization- of- the Year. This year we changed it up a bit and held a lavish cocktail reception which everyone who attended deemed a huge success! Our journal this year was digital and was sent to each member of the Chamber. It will also be on the Chamber’s website until next year. A great big thank you goes out to the “Yorktown Best of. . .Committee” for putting in so much time and effort to make it succeed and, of course, to our sponsors: House of Flowers and Fieldhome. On June 10th at 5:00pm The Chamber is sponsoring a fundraiser baseball game, The Little Leaguers vs the Yorktown Police Department with all proceeds going to send Yorktown children with life threatening diseases and their families for one week to Camp Sunshine in Maine. Come join us for burgers and hotdogs, Rita’s Ice, professional announcers and music under the lights at Legacy Field. Now it’s on to the Sixth Annual Car Show on Saturday, June 17th which will take place at the Jefferson Valley Mall parking lot in conjunction with Yorktown’s Community Day. On display will be 2017-2018 model cars from dealers around the area. We look forward to seeing many of you there. Come join us, bring the kids and family and have a wonderful day.On July 17th, the 2017 Yorktown Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Awards Dinner will take place at Little Sorrento Restaurant.. Each year the Chamber awards cash scholarships to deserving high school seniors. A portion of the funds comes from the Chamber’s general revenue fund, but most comes from donations from our members. All those who donate will be guests at this dinner where we will meet the students and their proud parents. It’s still not too late to send in your donation and join the festivities. The excitement of our 9th Annual Yorktown Festival and Street Fair is starting up again! Log on to www.
yorktownchamber.org to see how you can promote your business by buying a flag to fly in the hamlets of Yorktown, your name on our new LED sign in the middle of Yorktown, or as a vendor. You will be hearing more about this great event ! It will be here before you know it!If you have not thought about special advertising for your business, please keep in mind that the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce Membership Directory Community Profile & Visitors Guide for 2018 is being readied for publication in October. Sales personnel will be contacting you and we ask you to give them your attention when they call. Our next Networking Meeting will be at DML Mortgage Enterprises, Inc., on Monday, June 5th at 6:00pm and our final breakfast networking meeting for the season will take place at the Coach Diner in Yorktown on Tuesday, June 6th at 7:30 am with guest speaker, Eric Saidel, Director of Human Resources at ENT and Allergy Associates, LLP. Please try to attend both events for a great networking opportunity.Enjoy the good, weather we’ve been having with summer just around the corner and, as always, my door is open to all members with any concerns or suggestions.Eric DiBartolo President

Yorktown Chamber of Commerce History
Archives
Hi Eric,
My name is Mike Cachine, and my father Edward Ciachini
(my Dad change the spelling in 1964 also Ciachin was often
used) was a past president of the Yorktown Chamber back
in 1949 and the early 50's - In fact I saw an article in the
1951 Peekskill Herald stating that he held a Chamber Board
Meeting at our house on Granite Springs Road in May of
that year.
He was also the founding President of the Yorktown Athletic
Club and served in that capacity from 1948 - 1952 and
longtime member of the Yorktown Recreation Committee
since it's inception, and a committee member on the
formation of the Bank of Yorktown.
Throughout the 40's and 50's he was business partners with
Joseph Roma Sr. and Anthony Mongero to build a section of
Yorktown called Colonial Meadows. My parents were very
close to the Roma's and served as the best man and maid of
honor at their wedding, and my Mom remained close with
Grace Roma until her death in 1995. I was saddened to hear
of Mrs. Roma's passing as well in 2006? I believe.
I was wondering if you had any Yorktown Chamber archives
of meetings or any documented history dating back to those
days? Any minutes or director listings etc...? Through my
own research I found it very interesting that in the year that
my Dad became President of the Chamber, Mildred Strang
was voted Vice President, since I ended up going to Mildred
Strang MS growing up in Yorktown. That article is attached
announcing the results of that meeting.
Thank you very much for your consideration of this request
and I look forward to hearing from you.
Take care,
Mike
