Audit Students At the Yokohama YMCA, Department of Japanese Language Studies, you will be trained
thoroughly in all the following four areas of Japanese language; listening, speaking, reading,
and writing, aiming to learn genuine Japanese.
Apart from our regular students, we will accept those who want to audit some of our classes
through our Audit System. ■Type of Courses:There are three types of Japanese course which audit students may attend,
according to the purposes of study and levels of Japanese language. For courses A and B,
the school will issue a certificate of attendance at the end of the studying period.

level. You will be able to master basic Japanese communication skills that will help you in your
everyday life.

★This course is aimed for training practical ability for passing the nearest Japanese Language
Proficiency Test at the level of N1 and N2.
■Number of Students Recruiting: Limited number for each course.
■Class Hours:
●For Courses A and B: 3 periods a day, 5 days a week from Monday to Friday.
(15 periods a week, 16 weeks in 6 months. A total of 240 periods)

■Application Requirements:
1) The applicant for course A must basically be 15 years old or above and have completed at
least 9 years of formal education (equal to junior high school in Japan) in their home
country.
2) The applicant for course B must basically be 18 years old or above and have completed at
least 12 years of formal education (equal to high school in Japan), or meets requirements for
admission into high education such as universities in their home country.
3) All applicant must obtain a valid visa.
4) The applicant for course B (Japanese and Culture Studying Course) must have a Japanese
language ability equivalent to N2 level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test.
■Levels:
■Visa Type:This program is set for non-Student Visa applicants. There are no restrictions on which
visa you have. Short-Term Stay Visa (90 days) is acceptable. The YMCA will not assist in acquiring a
visa.

Department of Japanese Language on the 8th floor.
*On the day of the placement test, please bring pencils, erasers, and any Japanese text books you
have been using.
*Results of the first tests will be notified within a week. Results of the second tests will be notified
on the day of the tests. If you are accepted to audit, please pay the tuition and fees by the
specified due dates.
*For course A and B, we accept audit students from the middle of the 6 month-study-period. Audit
period is as follows. We will accept applications and hold placement tests at all time.

Short-Term Japanese Course
In the Short-Term Japanese Course of the YMCA College of Human Services, you will be
trained thoroughly in all the following four areas of Japanese language; listening, speaking,
reading, and writing, aiming to learn basic Japanese.
■Type of Course: Short-Term Japanese Course

■Class Hours: Morning Session and Afternoon Session (You will be divided into either morning or
afternoon session according to your Japanese level.)

Application documents (Standard Requirements)
Please read the following notes carefully before filling out the necessary application forms. The
application forms must be submitted by the applicant and a contact person, together. A contact
person must live in Japan, and the school will ask him/her to contact with the student. The
contact person must understand Japanese language well.
