Year 3 RE:

This week in RE we are going to try and come up with some examples of what Pentecost means to Christians. Look at the following

pictures and see if you can work out what the artist is trying to tell us.

Now you need to think about what emotions are the disciples feeling?

Which parts of the story are the artist telling you? Which parts of the story have been missed out? What symbols can you see? Go to

Purple Mash now and complete the work set for you – a diary entry for two people from Pentecost. Can you write down how they feel?

What do they see and hear?

Wednesday English- Sea Creature pictures for Years 3 and 4- please choose 1 to write about.

Daily elevenses story read by David Walliams: https://www.worldofdavidwalliams.com/elevenses/

Hokusai Wave: (see below)

Year 4 RE:

This week in RE we are going to try and answer this question:-

What is important to Hindu people?

I want you to think about the last journey you took, was it your daily walk? What did you see and do? Who kept you safe on your

journey? Who was waiting for you at the end of it?

Hindus believe that life is like a set of stepping stones, like taking your first steps when you were little, starting school…

Hindus believe that these stepping stones go into the future of our lives as well. What are your hopes for the future you? What jobs

do you have to do everyday, such as cleaning your teeth, setting the table…

For Hindus aims and duties are called Dharma and they include the following:-

Not getting angry, being truthful in speech, working for justice, forgiving people, having children when you are married, trying not to

quarrel, living a simple life, looking after the family, fulfilling religious duties such as worship and studying the scriptures.

Watch the following clips to help you:-

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02n5tks

Hindus believe that following their

dharma allows them to feel happy and

live a rewarding life. Not acting in

accordance with your dharma is

believed to be wrong and called

‘adharma’.

Now go to Purple Mash and complete the 2do list activity. Try and answer the following questions in your work:-

It is important to fulfil this duty because….

This duty would help me because…

This duty would help my community because…

In Hinduism, ‘dharma’ means duty, religion, virtue and

morality; it is a central part of a Hindu’s daily life.

Hindus believe that there are right and wrong ways to

behave so they must behave correctly, follow the moral

law and take their duties seriously. According to

dharma, it is best to do the right thing at all times.

For example, a pupil’s dharma is to

work hard at school; the parents’

dharma is to raise and support their

family; and the dharma of the police

is to protect others. At different

stages of a Hindu’s life, their dharma

will change, however, it is everyone’s

dharma to be kind, honest, religious

and to be a good person in society.
