XRAM-GeneratorCompact inductive pulsed power supply for railguns
The XRAM-generator is based on the inductive energy storage. A prototype of a toroidal coil consisting of 20 identical segments was realized at ISL. Each coil segment is energized by the same charging current in a series con-nection. The pulsed current discharge is then generated by a parallel con-nection of these coil segments, thus enabling a twentyfold amplification of the charging current. The switching technology is realized by high power semiconductor opening switches.
