Interface Design

Title: The title of the site is Kids Play and will feature the subtitle, Ideas and Activities to Help Engage Your Kids!

Logo: The logo is Kids Play spelled out with ABC blocks and the web address below it.

Header: The logo will be left aligned, the title will be centered, and a search bar will be right aligned. The words “Contact me” will be right aligned at the very top of the header and will allow users to email the client.

Footer: The footer will include the copyright information for the site, as well as a courtesy navigation that features the name of the pages minus the age ranges.

Navigation: The navigation is a hierarchical branching structure. The following words will be shown as the links:

Text: The text on the homepage will welcome users to the site, giving them a brief background on the client and the site’s purpose.

Welcome to KidsPlay.com! Your go to place for ideas and activities your children will love!

Kids Play was designed with parents and childcare providers in mind. All content is updated and maintained by Angel White. Mrs. White is a former elementary school teacher and current stay-at-home mom to three young children. With new content added weekly, you are sure to find something to do with your children, no matter their ages!

To get started, select an age below:

Pull Along Canister Train

What you need: Empty oatmeal canister Black construction paper Pencil Clear tape

Cardboard Paper fasteners Small cardboard tube from a roll of paper towels Scissors Glue Nail String Permanent markers

Directions:1. Trace the lid of the canister on a piece of black paper. Cut out the circle and replace

the lid. 2. Glue the circle to the bottom of the canister. 3. Wrap black paper around the whole canister, leaving the top uncovered, and secure

Glittering String Ball

What you need: 9-inch balloons String Scissors Ruler Glue Paintbrush Glitter

Directions:1. Invite your child to blow up a 9-inch balloon until it is a least 4 inches in

circumferences. She can measure the circumference by cutting a length of string that fits around the center of the balloon and then measure its length along a ruler.

2. Have her mix together ¼ cup glue with 1 tablespoon water in a small bowl. 3. Using scissors and any color string she’d like, have your child cut several long

lengths of string, about 4 to 5 feet. 4. It’s time to get messy! Have her dip the string in the glue mixture, making sure

Stained Glass Rose Window

What you need: 2 Sheets of Black construction paper (11” x 17”) Colored tissue paper X-acto cutter Glue stick

Pencil Scissors Compass (for drawing circles)

Directions:1. Using a compass, draw a circle in the center of one of the sheets of black

construction paper. Draw the circle as large as possible. Cut out the circle with a pair of scissors.

2. Trace this circle onto the other black sheet of paper. Cut the second circle out with scissors (these two circles will later become your rose window).

3. On the scrap black paper that the circles were cut from, create four basic shapes. For example; a half circle, diamond, circle, rectangle. Cut out one of each shape.

4. On one black circle, create repeating patterns by tracing around each shape one-by-one until the entire circle is filled up. Try to space them equally apart as you trace them until the circle is filled up with patterns. (Don’t worry if you make a mistake and have to erase the pencil lines, this side of the black circle won’t be seen.) View More

Epiphany Cake

What you need: Puff pastry dough, 17 oz. divided 1 egg yolk mixed with 1 tsp. water "Feve": a figurine or one dry uncooked bean to hide in the cake Brush, such as a basting brush

Frangipane (an almond or almond flavored filling that will rest between the puff pastry sheets)

1/2 cup well ground almonds or 1 teaspoon almond extract 1/2 cup sugar 1 egg 3 tablespoons butter, softened 3/4 teaspoon vanilla 2 tablespoons flour

Directions:1. First unroll one sheet of puff pastry, or if you make your own puff pastry dough roll out

enough for the bottom layer (about 9 oz.) and place this on a baking sheet. It can be square or circular. For pre-made puff pastry check the freezer section of your local grocery.
