BOECKER WINS ZENITH AWARD Thomas J. Boecker was honored for hisdedicationtoimprovingthe healthcareforthecitizensof ShelbyCountywiththehighest awardtheSidney-ShelbyCounty ChamberofCommercepresents- the2013ZenithAward.BoeckerstartedhiscareeratWilsonMemorialHospitalin1973andheldvariousadministrativepositionsuntilhewasnamedvicepresidentofop-erationsin1995.HewaspromotedtopresidentandCEOin1997.“TomhasdedicatedhisentireprofessionalcareertoWilsonMemorialHospitalandtheShelbyCountycommunities,”wroteMargoO’LearyinBoecker’snominationletter.“Healthcareisn’tlikeanyotherindustry.Infact,itishardtoevencallitan‘industry.’It’savital‘communityresource’thatisavail-able24/7andthereforsomeoflife’sgreat-estmomentsandsomeoflife’shardestones.”UnderTom’sleadership,thecommunityhasseenWilsonMemorialgrow,expandandimprovethehealthcareservicelinesavailabletothecommunity,whichincludetheCopeland-Emer-sonBirthCenter,theFrancisWomen’sCenter,theSportsMedicineProgramand,morerecently,theCardiacCathLab.Othercauseshehaschampionedincludediabeteseducation,women’shealthinitiatives,communityhealthinitiatives,andsomuchmore.

WILSON TO BUILD NEW MEDICAL OFFICE BUILDINGTheWilsonMemorialHospitalBoardofTrusteeshasapprovedaplantobuildanewmedicalofficebuildingonthemainhospitalcampusinSidney.Thebuildingwillhouseseveralmedicalpractices.Designisun-derwayforthe45,000squarefootbuildingwithanestimatedcostof$10.5million.“AtWilsonMemorial,westrivetoensureourcom-munityhasaccesstoconvenientandhigh-qualitycare,”saidTomBoecker,PresidentandCEOofWilsonMemorial.“Withourcontinuedgrowthithasbecomeveryimportantforustofindalternativemethodstocontinuetomeetourpatients’andthecommunity’shealthneeds.”Thenewmedicalofficebuildingwillbelocatedadja-centtotheProfessionalBuildingandwillbethefu-turehomeofWilsonCarepracticescurrentlylocatedin Sidney.WilsonCareisamulti-specialtyphysiciangroupcon-sistingof26providerswithofficeslocatedthroughoutShelbyCounty.TheWilsonCarepracticesinSidneyspecializeinfamilymedicine,internalmedicine,pe-diatrics,Ob/Gynandendocrinologyandarelocatedbothonandoffcampusinindependentoffices.Thegoalofthenewmedicalbuildingistobringthesepracticesallunderoneroof.“Wearethrilledtoembarkonsuchanexcitingproj-ect,”saidCraigLannoye,VicePresidentofOperations.“Thestrategybehindthenewmedicalbuildingwillfocusonateam-basedhealthcaredeliverymodel.Theintentofthisapproachistoallowforbetteraccesstohealthcare,increasedpatientsatisfactionandulti-matelyimprovedhealth.”Constructionissettobreakgroundinthefallof2014withananticipatedcompletiondateduringthefirstquarterof2016.WilsonMemorialhascontractedwiththeDayton-basedAppArchitecturefirmonthedesignoftheproject.
