BOECKER WINS ZENITH AWARD Thomas J. Boecker was honored for his dedicaon to improving the health care for the cizens of Shelby County with the highest award the Sidney-Shelby County Chamber of Commerce presents - the 2013 Zenith Award. Boecker started his career at Wilson Memorial Hospital in 1973 and held various administrave posions unl he was named vice president of op- eraons in 1995. He was promoted to president and CEO in 1997. “Tom has dedicated his enre professional career to Wilson Memorial Hospital and the Shelby County communies,” wrote Margo O’Leary in Boecker’s nominaon leer. “Health care isn’t like any other industry. In fact, it is hard to even call it an ‘industry.’ It’s a vital ‘community resource’ that is avail- able 24/7 and there for some of life’s great- est moments and some of life’s hardest ones.” Under Tom’s leadership, the community has seen Wilson Memorial grow, expand and improve the health care service lines available to the community, which include the Copeland-Emer- son Birth Center, the Francis Women’s Center, the Sports Medicine Program and, more recently, the Cardiac Cath Lab. Other causes he has championed include diabetes educaon, women’s health iniaves, community health iniaves, and so much more. The building will house several medical pracces. Design is un- derway for the 45,000 square foot building with an esmated cost of $10.5 million. “At Wilson Memorial, we strive to ensure our com- munity has access to convenient and high-quality care,” said Tom Boecker, President and CEO of Wilson Memorial. “With our connued growth it has become very important for us to find alternave methods to connue to meet our paents’ and the community’s health needs.” The new medical office building will be located adja- cent to the Professional Building and will be the fu- ture home of Wilson Care pracces currently located in Sidney. Wilson Care is a mul-specialty physician group con- sisng of 26 providers with offices located throughout Shelby County. The Wilson Care pracces in Sidney specialize in family medicine, internal medicine, pe- diatrics, Ob/Gyn and endocrinology and are located both on and off campus in independent offices. The goal of the new medical building is to bring these pracces all under one roof. “We are thrilled to embark on such an excing proj- ect,” said Craig Lannoye, Vice President of Operaons. “The strategy behind the new medical building will focus on a team-based healthcare delivery model. The intent of this approach is to allow for beer access to healthcare, increased paent sasfacon and ul- mately improved health.” Construcon is set to break ground in the fall of 2014 with an ancipated compleon date during the first quarter of 2016. Wilson Memorial has contracted with the Dayton-based App Architecture firm on the design of the project. Ralph Keister, right, presents the 2013 Zenith Award to Thomas Boecker. Congratulaons, Tom, on this well-deserved award and all of your career achievements! Wilson Memo- rial has been proud to call you one of their own.
