My face is on the penny.Who am I?

I am Abraham Lincoln.

I lived a long time ago.

I was the 16th President of the United States.

I was born in Kentucky on February 12th,1809 in a log cabin.

A log cabin is a house made of trees.

We were very poor. We had no electricity, or hot water.

When I was a boy I worked on my father’s farm for many hours.

I was very tired at the end of the day.

My mother taught me to read and write.

I would study at night by candlelight.

When I grew up, I became a lawyer. A lawyer studies the laws, and can help you if you are in trouble.

I always tried to tell the truth so people called me “Honest Abe”.

Many years later, I became the 16th President of the United States.

I am famous because I helped get rid of slavery.

I wanted all people to be free and happy.
