Welcome to Smithfield Middle School!
Introductions
Our goals for this evening: ! Introduce House Bill 5 and the new graduation
requirements as we know them today ! Share what can be done at this time ! Provide a tentative time-line for our 8th graders ! Answer as many questions as possible at the end
of the presentation
Two things to remember as we go through this presentation:
! This is an introduction, a starting point. The state is still in the process of making decisions, and districts still have decisions to make. We will be giving the most current information, and we will not be addressing specifics.
! What a student decides in 8th grade is not etched in stone!!!! This is a starting point and changes can be made along the way!
Our Mission We engage and encourage students and staff every day through meaningful work in a safe
and caring environment.
Vision All students succeed in a future they create.
