Main Events of the MonthReading: Charlotte’s WebWe will begin our year with a class read aloud of Charlotte’s Web. This book is great for teaching about character traits, friendship, story elements and much more! Please be sure your student is also reading the required 20 minutes each night, doing a response and getting a parent signature on their reading log! Writing: Personal NarrativesOur focus in writing will be on writing Personal Narratives – a story about ourselves. We will also be setting up the rules and routines of what Writers Workshop should look like!
Math: Place Value and Number SenseWe have shifted our focus in math to place value and number sense. 3rd graders are required to know how to say and read numbers up to the 10,000 place value. We will soon be adding and subtracting 3 digit numbers.
Science: Rocks and MineralsWe are almost finished with our Rocks and Minerals unit. Your 3rd grader should be able to tell you many similarities and differences between the two!
