He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. Leader: For in Jesus all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. People: And we, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present us holy and blameless and above reproach before him, if indeed we continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that we heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven. Songs of Praise I Waited for the Lord

I waited for the Lord on high I waited and He heard my cry

He pulled me out of my despair, He showed me where to walkFrom fear into security, from quicksand to a rock

There's a new song in my heart to sing A new song praises to my King

I'll sing to let the people know that I have been restoredAnd they will kneel and understand to return and trust in the Lord

Song of Lament Darkness and Light

Come into my darkness with your light Come into my sadness with your joy Turn my mind toward the good and true May my heart find its home in you Come into my blindness with your sight Come into my darkness with your light

Come into my loneliness with love Come into my anxious fears with faith May I turn from the idols of my heart help me see them for what they are Come into my waywardness with trust Come into my loneliness with love

Come into my future with your hope Come into my old regrets with peace Turn my gaze to the finished work of Christ May you wipe every tear from my eyes Come into my weakness with your might Come into my darkness with your light

Hymn of Consecration Sometimes a Light Surprises

Sometimes a light surprises the Christian while he sings It is the Lord who rises with healing in his wings When comforts are declining he grants the soul again A season of clear shining to cheer it after rain

In holy contemplation we sweetly then pursue The theme of God's salvation and find it ever new Set free from present sorrow we cheerfully can say Let the unknown tomorrow bring with it what it may

It can bring with it nothing but he will bear us through Who gives the lilies clothing will clothe his people too Beneath the spreading heavens no creature but is fed And he who feeds the ravens will give his children bread

Though vine nor fig tree neither their wonted fruit shall bear Though all the field should wither nor flocks nor herds be there Yet God the same abiding, his praise shall tune my voice For while in him confiding I cannot but rejoice
