Maths Week 4 commencing 11/05/20

Power Maths have now uploaded Summer term home-learning online, so we will be using their ‘Practice Book – Summer Home Edition.’ This incorporates work left over from last term and new topics for this term so your child won’t miss out on any of their learning. I also hope they are easier to view and follow. For each lesson, there is a double-page spread introduction called ‘Discover and Share’ which should be read first. Then there is a black and white practice page to be completed by your child. The answers are at the back of the online Practice Book.

There will be 4 x ‘Power Maths’ lessons per week then a ‘Fun Maths Friday’ aimed at revising other areas and having hands-on fun with maths around the home/garden.

You will need to copy and paste the relevant link below to access Power Maths (you can’t just click on them). Scroll down and accept the terms and conditions then select: Power Maths then ‘Practice Book – Summer Home Edition’. The page numbers you need are below.

You can type in the page number you need in the bottom right-hand corner box of the on-line book – rather than scroll through all the pages.

Fun maths Friday :

1) Come up with a physical challenge. It could be a running race, completing an obstacle course, doing a certain amount of jumps/knee drops on a trampoline – whatever you like.

2) Time how long it takes you to do it. You could use a watch/phone to do this or someone could count in seconds: ‘1 elephant, 2 elephant….etc’ for you. Write down your time.

3) Do it 3 times – can you beat your time?4) Work out your average time by adding up all three times and dividing by

3.

We would love to see photos of you doing your physical challenge or of your workings!
