LESSONS:

1. For some students the road is clear and

straight, but for many (most) it is not (and both are ok)

LESSONS:

2. They get someplace anyway

(and it may surprise you where)

6 tips for parents and

4 to tell your

students

1. Land the helicopter. Or at least hover over someone else.

2. Expect set backs. College is about trying things: majors, jobs, identities, partners. They won’t all work. That’s ok.

3. Trust your kids. You raised them well. They’ll figure it out.

4. Trust the University. Resources; advisers; faculty. Sometimes we will say no: We’re usually right.

5. Embrace the Change. They will be different. They will be better.

6. Stay in Touch (with your kids, not us. We won’t tell you anything about them. They are ADULTS.)

6 tips for parents and

4 to tell your

students

1. Find a Community. Join a club, play a sport, do research.

2. Talk to your professors. And to your advisors. Go to office hours!!!

3. Ask for help. Education is a collective process; everyone needs a team.

6 tips for parents and

4 to tell your

students

4. Own your education Be present, be reflective, be

intentional, be committed.

6 tips for parents and

4 to tell your

students

Last Words:

Enjoy college!

Enjoy your student!

Welcometo the UW!

PROVERBIOS Y CANTARES - XXIX

Wanderer, your footstepsthe road, and nothing more;wanderer, we have no road,we make the road by walking. As you walk you make the road, and to look backis to see that nevercan we pass this way again.Wanderer, there is no road, only traces in the sea.
