Error: malformed list on input
Issue
You received the following error message in AutoCAD® Electrical 2007:
Error: malformed list on input
Solution
There are two possible causes for this error: One of your custom AutoLISP® routines has been corrupted.
The AutoLISP File may be corrupted or have mismatched parenthesis pairs:
for example: in an (if), (progn), or (defun) statement in the program structure)
To determine if this is the case, use the VisualLISP Editor.
Second, the Lastproj.fil file has been corrupted. To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
1. Close AutoCAD® 2007.
2. Using Windows Explorer, browse to the following folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Autodesk\AutoCAD Electrical 2007\R17.0
\enu\Support\User 3. Delete the lastproj.fil file.

ASSEMBLY COMPONENTS CONSTRAINED OR NOT? TIPS AND TRICKS TIPS AND TRICKS TIPS AND TRICKS TIPS AND TRICKS
Assembly Components
You can easily find the number of constraints required to fully constrain your sketches by using the Auto Dimension command, but how do you know when components in your assemblies are fully constrained?
First we need to know what assembly constraints control.
Inventor assembly components have 6 rotational and transitional movements that can be constrained. As with any 3-Dimensional object, a part in an assembly can move along the X, Y, and Z axes, and it can rotate about each of these axes. Each movement type is called a Degree of Freedom, so every part in your assemblies has 6 Degrees of Freedom. Assembly Constraints control the Degrees of Freedom of each part in an assembly.
What constraints are missing?
You’ve created and constrained an assembly, but you don’t know how many constraints you need or which constraints are missing. In fact, you’re really not sure how structurally intact the assembly is.
Typically the next bold step is to try to drag one of the components to see if you can move it. You might continue to probe other parts with your pointer, but you really can’t get a clear understanding of how the components in the assembly are constrained. So how do you find out how the components in an assembly are constrained?
Display the Degrees of Freedom of the components.
Open any assembly file you’ve created, and then go to the View pull-down menu and select Degrees of Freedom. To display the degrees of individual
components and subassemblies, highlight them in the browser, right click and select Properties, and in the Occurrence tab check Degrees of Freedom.
Why is this important?
When the Degrees of Freedom symbol is visible on all the components of the assembly you can instantly see how the components are constrained. More importantly, you can see the freedom of movement that remains on each component. Once you have this information, you can gain more control over the assembly by adding or subtracting constraints.

ADDING FEATURE INTELLIGENCE TIPS AND TRICKS TIPS AND TRICKS TIPS AND TRICKS TIPS AND TRICKS
Adding Feature Intelligence
You’ve mastered the art of creating iParts and iFeatures, but did you know you can apply logical operators to your parts and features to make them even more intelligent?
In this quick exercise we’ll simplify this concept by creating a 1-inch cube with a 1/4-inch hole in it. If the hole diameter is less than 1/8th of an inch, the hole will be suppressed.
Create a Sample Part.
You can apply the same technique to iParts and iFeatures, but for demonstration purposes we’ll use a standard part. Open a standard part file, create a 1-inch cube, and then use the Hole command to put a ¼-inch hole through the cube. Be sure to center the hole on a face of the cube.
Identify the Parameter.
Now open the Parameters dialog box to learn the name of the parameter that defines the diameter of the hole. In this case it’s d6.
Open Feature Properties.
Once you know the parameter name for the diameter, right click on the Hole1 feature in the browser and select Properties.
Edit Feature Properties.
The Feature Properties dialog box shows the properties for Hole1. In the Suppression Section, check the 'If' check box, select d6 in the top combo box, select the Less Than operator, and enter .125 in the value combo box. This will cause the hole to be suppressed if the diameter of the
hole is less than 1/8th of an inch. Once you’ve edited these settings, click OK, and then Update the part.
Now test it.
Edit the Hole1 feature, and change the diameter of the hole to .094.
Why is this important?
This adds a new twist to your ability to control dynamic geometry. As iParts and iFeatures increase and decrease in size you may want to suppress or un-suppress other features so that they fit. For example, a 6-inch long plate
can have 4 1-inch diameter holes spaced an inch apart. If you decrease the length of the plate to 5-inches, you may want one of the holes to disappear.
