From the Pastor’s Desk
35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples,
if you have love for one another.”
John 13:35
It’s February, and often the highlight of this month is Valentine’s Day. Every
Feburary 14 is set aside to show our significant other some special sign of our love.
From chocolates to flowers, the day is generally associated with a materialistic sign of
affection, and while there’s nothing wrong with chocolates or flowers, love is far more
than a gift purchased once a year. But why talk about love? The Bible frequently talks
about the importance of love, and outlines the importance of being people of love. We
are called to love God, love our neighbor, love our enemies, and love those that
persecute us. Jesus even highlights that the world will know we are His followers by
our love.
The word “love“ has been hijacked by various aspects of our culture and media.
The word is used frequently, though it’s rarely meant. The same word that is used to
describe our affinity for certain foods and restaurants is also used to express our
feelings towards our children. While I am sure many of us really like pizza, I doubt
anyone would give their life for one. Love holds a different meaning when applied to a
person versus an object. We are willing to do anything to protect those we love. This
brings a particular challenge considering Jesus calls us to love all people. It’s easy to
love our family and those who are similar in beliefs, but what about the people we
disagree with? We are not called to simply tolerate people, something common in our
society, nor are we called to just be nice to people. We are called to love people, all
people.
If we love people, we should have a heart for them. Through the life changing
power of Jesus, our hearts can be driven by the same love He has for people. If we
begin to see people the way Jesus sees them, then our hearts should break for those
who have yet to know Him. Evangelism should be motivated by love, desiring all people
to know God, rather than spending an eternity separated from Him. Rather than
approaching people with an attitude of “I have this figured out,“ we should approach
them with a heart of love, with an urgency to share the good news, and the hope that
we have received. If we just tolerate people, then waiting for the “perfect“ opportunity
might be our plan. However, if we love people then waiting is not an option. We should
make an effort to spread the Gospel as often as we can, because if someone we love
is in danger, we warn them right away.
As you see hearts all around this month, use it as an opportunity to share your
faith. Let us show our love to all people, and not just one day a year. May we be people
known for our love, and may the world know we are follwoers of Jesus because of it.

and our congregation. All men are welcome to join us in the Prayer Room located near the Sanctuary.
Moms 24/7
We all know that with the cold and dreary days of winter, at times it is hard to get out. Our Moms 24/7 group is
the perfect opportunity to break out the coats and hats and join other moms for a hot cup of coffee and a great
time of fellowship
Our meetings for this month will be held on February 11, and February 25. Remember that the Great Date
Night, sponsored by GAC youth, will be held on Friday, February 7. Please feel free to drop the little ones off at the
church and spend some time doing whatever you would like! Even if groundhog Phil predicts an early spring, we
still know that the weather is very unpredictable. If for any reason Hempfield schools are cancelled or even
delayed, our Moms meeting will be cancelled
Moms 24/7 is a ministry for moms of ALL ages with children of ALL ages. Whether you are a first-time mom or
you have grandchildren, Moms 24/7 is for you. Whatever your schedule or stage of life, we hope that you will
make Moms 24/7 part of your life. It's not only an opportunity for you to get refreshed and encouraged, but for you
to refresh and encourage other moms. For questions or more information contact Joanne Kreinbrook,

Men’s Tuesday Morning Bible Study The Men’s Tuesday Morning Bible Study Fellowship meets at 6:30am in Conference Room 550 with the study
being completed at 7:30am. Weekly attendance is not a requirement, and all men and their sons are welcome to
drop in as their schedule permits. Our purpose is to help equip one another to glorify God by growing in the grace
and knowledge of Jesus Christ.
We help our church accomplish its mission by working through careful study of God’s Word, to learn the mind
of God, and discern His will for men. Through this Bible Study men work to encourage, equip, and strengthen each
other to live Godly and victoriously through the Spirit. Through prayer we lift each other, our families, and our work
places to the Lord. The group is open to men of all ages and backgrounds: young or old; single or married; with kids
or without kids; etc. For more information contact the Church Office, 724-837-1122 or Alex Graziani, 724-787-
6520, alexander.graziani@gmail.com. Resolve to get into the Word of God and let the Word of God get into you!

Night Of Prayer Please join us on February 26 for a Night of Prayer starting at 7:00pm. It is a Wednesday evening so our
Awana program will be in full swing (6:30—8:00pm) for children age 3 (potty trained) through grade 5, and there
will also be nursery available for infants. Don’t miss this opportunity to join our hearts together in prayer!
Anchor College Ministry The Great Commission is foundational to who the Alliance is; evangelism, discipleship, and sending people
out. As our world becomes more digitally connected, it has also become relationally distant. This makes the value
of physical interaction and relationship building even more important. Through group discussions and discipleship
programs, we encourage students to engage themselves in the local community, and provide ways to do so, rather
than just observing from behind a screen. By fostering a love for people and a willingness to reach them, we are
preparing our students to make an impact in the world, wherever they may go, and whatever they may do.
Our schedule is going through some changes, but if you’re interested in attending or looking for more
information, contact Josh Nosbisch at jnosbisch.gac@gmail.com.
Every Dollar: More Than Enough We live in the land of plenty, a veritable modern day Promised Land. Though there are certainly many within
our borders that are in need, by in large the United States truly is the ‘land of opportunity’ and there is generally
assistance readily available. While these are the benefits of living where we do, the downside is that it makes us
feel incredibly capable and reinforces our natural leanings of independence. As Pastor Lu has preached, the
Christian life is a call to dependence…on Jesus’ redemptive death and resurrection, and the power of the Spirit for
daily living, among other things. We rely on Him for all that we need and celebrate His provision for us.
As we consider what we have been given, remember those that have less. On the first Sunday of each month
we highlight giving to our Benevolent Fund. Simply put, the Benevolent Fund is for the purpose of helping those in
need. We sometimes designate the offering for our short term missions trips, district pastors in need, or other
areas we become aware of. You can give to the Benevolent Fund on the first Sunday of each month as you exit the
sanctuary, but you can also give to the Benevolent Fund anytime throughout the year. Simply mark your giving
“benevolent” (on your envelope or check).
There is an excerpt from Oswald Chamber’s “My Utmost for His Highest” that has long been a favorite of mine.
“I’m able. I’m enough for you. Right now you doubt this, but trust me.” When we read this as God speaking to us,
it challenges or bent toward independence and the angst that we gravitate towards when things are not quite what
we would like them to be or need them to be. Read those words again. Rest in the confidence of knowing that
they are true and release whatever doubts and fears you are wrestling with. The truth is that God is not just
‘enough’ but He is more than enough. As we worship through giving we celebrate this truth.
Reaching Our World: Windows of Opportunity Lately the world stage has been characterized by unrest. Places where our international workers previously
had access have been indefinitely closed to them. Several have had to evacuate or put plans on hold. It reminds
us that we do not know how long the opportunities we have to share the Gospel will last. As you have likely heard,
we are taking a team to the Arab Lands this summer. It will be an amazing opportunity to partner with the work
that God is accomplishing there. But not everyone will go, and the world is much bigger than just the Arab Lands.
How do we get it done? How do we heed Paul’s admonition to “make the most of every opportunity”? All of us
have windows of opportunity, the challenge for us is to steward them well. What are the relationships in your life
where you could be more intentional about demonstrating the love of God? Where are the spaces that you could
be more vocal about speaking about the hope that you have? As you reach outside your comfort zone and make
the most of the windows of opportunity in your life, remember our international workers who are doing the same
thing all around the world. Let it be a reminder to pray for them and an encouragement that we do not labor alone.
Together, by the power of the Spirit, is how we will get it done. Commit to reaching through the windows of
opportunity in your life and sharing the Good News. All of us sharing all of Jesus, will reach all the world.

Recycling Fundraiser for Children’s Summer Camp
Recycling aluminum cans is an ongoing project to raise funds each year to assist the children in our church
who attend the C&MA District summer camps. We appreciate your continued help in saving those cans! Keep in
mind that we can only recycle aluminum drink cans. Do not bring metal cans from food, glass jars, or plastic
bottles. Please rinse the cans and place in the bin under the Fellowship Hall coat rack, or by the garage, at your
convenience.

Jesus the King: The Gospel of Mark (Part 1)
Teacher: Jack Herman & Eric Bartels| Room 240
Jesus has had His story communicated to the world through the four Gospels for roughly 2000 years.
Each of these Gospels present various unique perspectives on the earthly ministry of Jesus. In this study, based on
some of the points outlined in Timothy Keller’s book Jesus the King we will examine the unique perspective that we
get from the Gospel of Mark.
As we look at the life of Jesus Christ we will see how Jesus came as a king, but a king who had to bear the
greatest burden anyone ever has, the cross. We will see how the story of Jesus is at once cosmic, historical, and
personal, calling each of us to look anew at our relationship with God.
11:00 AM
Know the Heretics (Part 2)
Teacher: Lee Calisti| 230
There is a lot of talk about heresy these days. Are all errors to be considered “Heresy”? The frequency and
volume of accusations suggest that some Christians have lost a sense of the gravity of the word. On the other
hand, many believers have little to no familiarity with orthodox doctrine or the historic distortions of it. What's
needed is a strong dose of humility and restraint, and also a clear and informed definition of orthodoxy and
heresy.
Know the Heretics provides an accessible 'travel guide' to the most significant heresies throughout Christian
history. As a part of the KNOW series, this study is designed to help people deeply understand the foundations of
the faith and apply them to their everyday lives. This class will be part DVD and part discussion.
Prayer Opportunities Praying is a practical and effective way Alliance people can help fulfill the Great Commission. Each month we
will feature some of the latest updates and requests for our partnerships in our newsletter. In depth requests are
available at the Welcome Center in the Lobby. We also publish a weekly prayer report featuring international
requests and church family and friends’ requests. If you would like to receive these prayer requests each week
electronically, email the Church Office, churchoffice.gac@gmail.com, or indicate on your Sunday Connect Card.

Creation Trip Introductory Information Meeting – Sunday, February 23 - 12:15pm Each Summer our youth group takes an awesome trip to the Creation Music festival in Mt Union, PA for a week
of camping, concerts, worship, and messages. This trip has been part of this youth ministry for over 30 years and
has become a familiar summer trip for many of the students of Greensburg Alliance Church!!! This summer’s trip to
Creation will take place June 24-28. The cost of the trip will be $175 which includes festival entry, food, equipment
rental, and transportation. Of all of the trips that we take, this is one of the best bargains that we have going.
With all of the new students that are showing up to youth group we wanted to give an opportunity to have a
brief informational meeting after church so that families who are not familiar with the trip can hear about it and
have an opportunity to ask questions. So if you are interested in learning more about this trip and being able to ask
questions, please take a half hour to join us on February 23 in the fellowship hall at 12:15pm. Our goal is for you to
gain a better understanding of this trip before we open registration.
Please note: If you are a student/family that is already familiar with this trip there is no need for you to attend
this meeting. We will still have our normal mandatory meeting closer to the actual trip for all students who are
registered.
Cereal Night at YG - Thursday, February 27 You bring the cereal, we provide the milk! On Thursday, February 27 we will be having a Cereal Night at Youth
Group. Students are encouraged to bring their favorite cereal to share as a snack. Any leftovers will be donated to

Children’s Ministries
Orange Program Volunteers We want to give an extra THANK YOU to all our Sunday Morning volunteers in Children's ministry. We have an
awesome group of volunteers working together each and every Sunday. Our Sunday mornings start off in prayer
together and quickly move to greeting the children and families, playing some games, singing songs, digging into
God's Word, and teaching each other how we can apply God's truths in our own lives today. It is a jam packed
morning and flies by so quickly. We see so many children's smiling faces move in and out of the children's wing
and that is only possible because of the service of our dedicated volunteers. You are making a difference in our
children's lives and their futures. Thank you for making yourself available to be with them!
If you would like to volunteer, or have questions about volunteering, feel free to contact Julie Stahl by email at
julie.gackids@gmail.com or phone 814-525-1090 for anything regarding our Children’s Ministry Orange programs
Parent Cue App
The Orange curriculum we use for Sunday mornings in most of our classrooms has an app available for
parents! It's called the Parent Que App. This app is a great tool for parents to build on Sunday teachings. Once
your account is set up for each child, it provides videos from the weekly Bible lesson, helpful parenting tips, Bible
memory verses, a simple age tracker, and more for each child! The app is intuitive to set up and available on apple
or android devices. Feel free to ask Julie if you have any questions!
Attention Toddler Room Parents
In March, we will be transitioning the older children who are 3 1/2 years old or older (birthdays fall between
3/1/2016 - 8/31/2016) to the preschool room. The preschool room is room 410 and is the first room on
left. This transition is to help keep our children of similar age and development in the same classroom. We have a
wonderful staff of preschool teachers that are excited to meet your children. The first day these children should go
to the preschool room will be on March 1, 2020. Your child's check-in tags will be updated with new classroom
assignments after that date. If you are wondering if your child is moving up or should you have any questions
about this transition feel free to connect with Julie Stahl.

All of Jesus For all the World Takes all of Us
Recently this phrase has been repeated multiple times by our mission
leaders. If you are interested you can read an article in Alliance Life about a
deeper understanding about what that means....But come back quickly to read
how that worked out recently here in France.
The young man grew up in a Muslim majority country in sub-Saharan West
Africa. All his family members are members of the majority religion, but as he
began to get older he started to ask questions. He asked the local imam ‘what
promise do you have of entering paradise?’ ‘None’ was the response. He was
invited to a local ministry center run by Alliance Workers to help improve his
English. He attended because it was fun and he wanted to improve. He began to
ask the workers and other Christ-followers there what was their hope. They shared with him the story of Jesus and
gave him a Bible. He read and studied and attended church, and as that happened his family made threats against
him and he made arrangements to move to Paris. An Alliance worker reached out to our teammate, Brandon, here
in Envision France and said, "hey there is a guy who is moving to Paris who is interested in Jesus and improving his
English." Brandon agreed to reach out to him.
After a quick phone call the young man said ‘I'll call you when I get a transportation pass’. Months passed and
Brandon wrote off the young man, but out of the blue the young man said ‘okay I have a pass let's learn English’.
He showed up for English three to four times a week, joined Bible studies, started attending a local church, and
continued to ask more about Jesus. Countless times Brandon sat after English and answered questions. The young
man reached out to interns, people from the local church, and ourselves to find the answers in Christ he had been
searching for. Each time he was surrounded by people willing to share and converse and walk the path towards
Jesus with him.
A local assistant pastor, Paco, holds an introduction to Jesus Bible study every Monday at one of the same
places we hold English classes. The young man had met Paco when Paco had been on a missions trip to his
country. The young man joined the Bible study and continued his path towards Jesus. After confessing his need for
Jesus and submitting his life to Christ, the young man desired to be baptized. This
weekend he was baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit in a
celebration service with Trinity International Church.
TLDR: (To Long Didn't Read in case you aren't down with the internet slang)
Alliance Workers in Africa started to work with a young man who moved to Paris who
connected him with Alliance workers in Paris, who connected him with the Alliance
Church in France who had the great pleasure to baptize the young man this last
weekend.
This is why we are part of a worldwide movement that plants local churches that are connected to the
worldwide movement that YOU are part of. This story is your story. Your prayers and financial involvement made this
possible!
Thank you.
Keep praying!
