Flu Shots

Flu Shots will again be offered during the month

of November by In Home Solutions. Dates and

times will be included on your November

calendar. If you have Medicare, there is no

charge the day you receive your flu shot.

In Home Solutions will bill Medicare the same

as your medical provider. If you have any

questions, please do not hesitate to contact

Becky Park, 849-0814.

Upcoming Bus Trips

A fall foliage viewing and lunch at the Iron Mountain

Grill just outside of Sigel is scheduled for Friday,

October 13. We will utilize the ATA bus for

transportation and it will pick up those who registered

at approximately 11:30 am. The bus is full.

If anyone wants to drive or car pool, you are welcome

to follow the bus and join us for lunch. We will order

from the menu and lunch is at your own expense.

The deadline to sign up is Friday, September 29th.

Please let Becky know if you plan to attend so she can

make reservations with the restaurant.

Becky is also working on a bus trip to Cooper’s Farm

Market in Falls Creek. Please watch the bulletin

board for details.

Devotions & Hand Cleansing

Lori Parks, Chaplin for WRC Senior

Services, stopped in to visit the ladies

of the Villages recently. Lori offered

devotions and showed them how to

make their own hand scrub mixture.

She also provided instruction on the

proper way to massage their hands.

Electric Outage

The Village has been notified by Penelec that they

will be scheduling an eight hour power outage in the

near future to do necessary repairs/upgrades.

Once notification is received from Penelec with date

and time, this information will be communicated to all

Village tenants. We need to make sure accommoda-

tions are made for those tenants needing oxygen dur-

ing the 8 hours of the power outage. Please contact

Becky Park, 849-0814 to discuss any concerns.

New Music

Thanks to a generous

donation from Jack & Jean Parker

(pictured below), there are seven

new hymns that were added to the

playlist at the fountain. We hope

you enjoy the new songs.

October is Breast Cancer

Awareness Month. More

than 200,000 women are

diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the United States. It is

the second most common kind of cancer in women. Pennsylvania

has the fifth highest rate of breast cancer in the United States

with approximately 11,000 women in Pennsylvania diagnosed

each year. About one in 8 women born in the United States will

get breast cancer at some point.

The good news is that most women can survive breast cancer if

it’s found and treated early. The importance of early detection

cannot be stressed enough. Size matters, and smaller tumors are

less invasive and more treatable. National Breast Cancer

Awareness Month is a chance to raise awareness about the early

detection. Dr. Eisen, Radiation Oncologist at the Clarion

Hospital, and the Laurels will host a breast cancer awareness

seminar on Thursday, October 12, at 11:30 am in the

Multipurpose Room at Laurelbrooke Landing. Please join us

for this informative presentation.
