research based system that utilizes all areas of the brain, keeps children engaged throughout their lessons, and helps them retain much more information than the standard lecture-discussion model

CCLS and rigorous classroom reasoning. The time required to complete a curriculum module will depend on the scope and difficulty of the mathematical content.

• Students should MASTER addition and subtraction facts by the end of the October

• Students MUST start studying multiplication facts for 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s, and 10’s ASAP

• This year, your student will be involved in many project based learning units, including the Solar System and Animal Habitats.

• These units encourage student inquiry and self discovery while connecting concepts to a universal theme often called The Big Idea.

• Physical and cultural landscape of California, American Indians with a focus on the Chumash tribe, and local government and laws in a society.

P.E: Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 12:45-1:15

Computer Lab: Friday 9:20-10:20

STEM Lab: 8:55-9:25 every two weeks.

Art: With Miss Nancy every 3rd Thursday of the month

• Your scholar will write their homework in their agenda book daily.

• Homework is also posted on our classroom website.

• All homework is due the following day, unless otherwise stated.

• Homework without a name will not receive credit

• Late homework is not accepted, unless a valid reason is given

• Standards based grades reflect a student’s performance on class work (10%), quizzes (40%), and assessments (50%). These grades are given for Reading, Math, and Writing
