01A prototypical studio that can be randomized to allow interaction

amongst architecture, interior design, and landscape students, providing a collaborative and informative space.

Mass of Studio Spaces appear to float above the ground while the main level is encased entirely by glass.

Lecture Hall along with other public spaces form an open floor plan on the main level.

Sunken Gardens provide natural sunlight to subterranean program spaces.

Multi-level Terraces gradually step down with the existing landscape and create exterior gathering areas.

Studios are a singular form and a separate entity from the other program.

Landscape becomes terraces creating separate green spaces.

Light Wells slice through the studio mass allowing light to penetrate to lower programs.

Catwalks connect the studios and act as flex spaces and pin up areas.

together in various spaces where people in society can coexist and learn

from one another.

Various programs

overlap one another creating connections between different sources of media.

Balconies extended past boundaries creating voids in the solid parallel walls.

Information could be

shared visually and audibly depending on each location.

Programs can be

linked visually, enhancing the learning process.

Organizational Structure: | Parallel Wall System |

A parallel wall system dictates where the programmatic spaces are placed.

Each program can remain

compartimentalized or the wall could contain voids expanding the program into the next slot.

The walls will take

on a new interior facade each time a program extends.

03Connecting the community by wrapping central circulation to create a communal

performance space showcasing the historic and forgotten ruin.

Wrapping program around the ruin drew focus to it and added significance to the old structure.

Circulation paths allowed for interaction amongst the existing site and visitors.

The ruin became a background to

the performance stage located at the center of the circulation and terraced hardscape.

Glazed walkway that connects each programmatic building and allows views to performance courtyard

Public program applied to inside space of the ruin to encourage interaction

Dance students perform on central platform to showcase their talents

Studios lifted off main level to retain the views of the rest of the site

The exploration of Europe during the fall semester of 2011 encouraged the process of sketching and

photograph compositions.

The different cities that were traveled to included Rome, Barcelona, Todi, and Assisi.
