FIELDTRIALforSakhalinEnergy-OxifreePreservationproductTM198IntroductionOxifree TM198 is a new product to SEIC (Sakhalin Energy Investment Company), and is used for externalcorrosion control for flanges, valves, and bolted assemblies in both onshore and offshoreenvironments. Oxifree is represented in Sakhalin through Agent Company (INTRA). Technicalpresentationhadbeendonein2014anditwasagreedtocarryoutafreeofchargefieldtrialintheSEICLNGPlantduringsummer2015.Details:Insummer2015,surfacepreparationbySt3usinghandtoolshadbeencarriedoutfor3flanges,andthenappliedwithOxifreebysupportingIntrateam,andusingtheirOxifreePolymeltequipment.OneoftheflangeOxifreecoatingshadbeenremovedafter10monthsandvisualinspectionconfirmthat it is ingoodcondition.Theother2 flangesOxifreecoatinghadbeenremovedafteroneyear,andvisualinspectionconfirmthatitisingoodconditions.The trial flanges are part of process equipment at the LNG plant, which is subject to winterenvironmentwheretheambienttemperatureis–30degCelsiuswithsnow/iceconditionsandalsoinsummerenvironmentwheretheambienttemperatureis+30degCelsiusandsevererain.AlltheapplicationhadbeendoneinpresenceofcertifiedINTRArep.andSEICcorrosionengineer.

Comments:applicationofOxifreematerialproductTM198byusingofPolymeltHeatingMachinehasbeendonebyINTRArepresentativein2steps.Thicknessofthelayervariesfrom3to6mm.Timeofapplicationisaround20-25minperflange.

Comments:after1yearafterapplicationofOxifreematerialproductTM198-thesurfaceunderthecoatinghasbeenfounddryandcleanwithoutanydeteriorationandtracesofrust.ItwasfoundasmallamountofcorrosioninhibitorwhichextractedfromOxifreeandformedahydrophobiasscaleonthemetal surface,whichcanbeseenintheimages.Flange#2
