We at Alfing Montagetechnik GmbH like well
thought out, comprehensive solutions. Precisely
because of this, we not only supply nutrunner tech-
nology but also offer in-house engineering design
and assembly. As such, we are system providers.
And partners with well-respected automobile man-
ufacturers and suppliers around the world.
> As a subsidiary of the Alfing Group, AMT devel-
ops and manufactures forward-looking, integrated
solutions in the Swabian city of Aalen. Our areas of
expertise include nutrunner technology, assembly
systems and automation. AMT’s 180 specialists of-
fer the right manpower and flexibility to satisfy the
unique requirements of our demanding customers.
> There are many good reasons why AMT is recog-
nized as one of the leading suppliers of electroni-
cally controlled handheld and built-in nutrunners.
One in particular: our tools think ahead. They in-
form the user promptly if preventive maintenance
is required. As a result, availability is increased, and
reductions in assembly workflow due to sudden
and unscheduled maintenance interruptions are a
thing of the past.

The new AMT control
The AMT team can look back on a successful com-
pany history of more than 3 decades – because we
are consistently looking forward as the innovation
drivers for nutrunner technologies. As a result,
AMT inspires the market on a regular basis with in-
novative products and patents.
> As we developed the latest generation in nut-
runner technology, we asked ourselves: which meg-
atrends are relevant? How can we improve the daily
hustle and bustle of our customers? What will ad-
vance the market?
We are proud of the fact that the newly developed
AMT nutrunner system provides top-quality answers
three essential demands on progressive technolo-
gies:
> communication with mobile devices> user-friendly operation >
> A glance at the inner workings of the AMT controls
architecture provides the basis for so much future ca-
pability – it has what it takes:
the control uses an extremely thrifty low-power pro-
cessor, embedded Linux, as well as an integrated web
server.

Communication with mobile devices
Smartphone or tablet is all you need
You are so free
It doesn’t matter when or where – our new genera-
tion of nutrunner technology offers maximum free-
dom and can be remotely operated from anywhere,
at your convenience. Access to the control is avail-
able from a mobile device with a network connec-
tion, e.g. tablet or Smartphone.
> Programming, troubleshooting, repair – each ac-
tion can now be accomplished independent of loca-
tion or time. For example, if the service technician
receives an error message via email, he can directly
access the control from his mobile device. This con-
venient operation saves travel time. And money, of
course.
> An additional innovation is the QR code now
located on the control. Once scanned by a mobile
device, connection to the control occurs automati-
cally. Fast and easy, the service technician can now
modify critical parameters.

Use in the automobile industry
Communication with mobile devices
Less is more
In order to define parameters or program the con-
trol, it will no longer be necessary to install special
software on a PC or mobile device.
> Instead, we have integrated a web server in our
control. This eliminates all updating and compati-
bility problems. The control hardware already in-
cludes any required programming software.
> All that our customer will need in the future is
a web browser – the user interface to the control
will then appear on the mobile device. Whether PC
or Smartphone – the display will be optimized to
match the best mobile device format.

Simple operation
Graphics programming
The new easy
To make your life easier, the AMT team has worked
hard on the new user interface and placed an abun-
all to achieve the most user-friendly operation pos-
sible. This is represented in the three newly created
programming tools: the library, the assistant and
the graphics programming environment. Together
they cover the complete spectrum of nutrunner pro-
grams, from basic to extremely complex.
> The library contains a variety of pre-written nut-
runner programs, from which the user can select a
suitable one to use without any additional need for
parameterization.
> New programs can be created with the help of an
assistant, who guides the user through the program
creation process in just a few steps. The nutrunner
program is then automatically created and parame-
terized.
> The graphic programming interface is ideal for
extremely complex tasks. Symbols are dragged
down to the user’s desktop and combined to create
a rundown sequence. Even complex programs can
be created with this tool in a very visible and easily
understood process.

Intelligente Fehlerdiagnose
The key component to any control is the Production
screen. In order to customize it to the specific re-
quirements of each user, we have made it very flex-
ible and user-configured. The information is dis-
played in windows, which are placed on the screen
according to individual preference and can be over-
layed or masked. As a result, the most unique infor-
mation displays are only a few clicks away.
> When it comes to the topic user-friendly opera-
tion, Troubleshooting can, of course, not be over-
looked. This is why the new AMT control analyzes
which errors could have occurred, based on the er-
ror message, and makes suggestions for efficient
error correction. This results in fast troubleshoot-
ing and reliable error correction.

Maximum power, minimum energy
The megatrend towards energy efficiency is not
new but still extremely important. It plays an im-
portant role in resource and cost savings. It also
factored into the development of the current con-
trol: critical factors were already taken into con-
sideration during the design process by AMT spe-
cialists, resulting in a considerable reduction in the
control’s energy requirements.
> The heart of the control is a high-performance,
energy-efficient low-power processor. Other re-
ductions in energy consumption are achieved in the
new design by low-loss amplifiers, as well as indi-
vidually switchable control components which can
be shut down in standby mode.

Old New
Savings around the clock
Many systems continue to run during non-production periods,
in order to guarantee a trouble-free resumption of production
at a later time. Whoever wants to save energy cannot ignore
this phase. For exactly this reason, the innovative AMT ener-
gy design allows a user-programmable configuration of which
control components are to be shut down whenever the control
is inactive. During a running operating system, these elements
can be individually designated to switch in standby mode. As
many as possible for the best results.
> The result: our new generation of nutrunner technology
saves up to 75 % in energy compared to its predecessor.

Improved ergonomics
Innovative design Intelligent status display
Smart for the senses
The highlights density for the new AMT nutrunner
technology is enormous. As a result, several chang-
es have also been made to our handheld and built-in
nutrunners – the designation of Smart Tools is well
deserved. Above all, in regards to ergonomics, the
newly designed handle now feels better in the hand,
due to its smoother surface. The motor protection
hose, on the other hand, is nonslip and feels more
comfortable.
> Since the data transfer between control and hand-
held nutrunner will take place digitally in the future,
the cables are thinner, lighter, more flexible and, as a
result, more robust and easier to use.
> The status display uses LEDs, which can be seen
from all directions and which correspond to our prov-
en color concept for our rechargeable nutrunners.
