THESE WILL (MOST LIKELY) REMAIN TRUE FOR ALL OF OUR WORDS LISTS THIS

YEAR.

Vocabulary “Card” Expectations & Guidelines

Directions for Vocabulary

Please create a Keynote presentation to create your vocabulary “cards.”

Each word will have its own slide (the option that allows for text and a picture is probably your best option).

The next slide outlines what needs to go on each card. If you participated in Honors last year, it will probably be similar, but there will be at least one noticeable difference.

There is also an example slide included for you to reference.

What needs to be included on each slide?

1. The word (spelled correctly, of course!)2. The definition(s)3. Parts of speech for the word and its different

meanings (spelled correctly, of course!)4. Synonyms5. Antonyms6. Picture (we will talk about these)7. A sentence that EXPLAINS why you chose that

picture to help you remember the word’s meaning (it is not acceptable to tell me that it is because it is what Google Images showed you).

ominousDef: (adj) portending*

evil or harm (If I didn’t know this word, I would look it up and replace it with the word “foreshadowing”)

Other forms of the word: ominously (adv), ominousness (noun)

Synonyms: foreboding, threatening

Antonyms: encouraging, promising

I chose this picture because the clouds that are forming seem to warn of a bad storm coming (and this word has to do with warning of something bad).

The words

1. Lash 2. Imperious 3. Annihilate 4. Sporadic 5. Deviate 6. Sequester

7. Indispensable 8. Infringe 9. Eccentric 10.Conform 11.Peripheral 12.Subservient
