t is quite remarkable that during the six years between the onset ofthe global financial crisis in 2008 and today, when the economy ofBarbados has struggled to reignite, one stretch of the of St. Petercoastline has paradoxically been a hive of construction activity andhigh-end property development. What is even more remarkable is that

the three most spectacular projects undertaken during that period - SaintPeter’s Bay, Port Ferdinand and Palazzate - have all been conceptualized,designed and delivered by the same entity, the JADA Group.

All three of these amenity-rich luxury resorts are located close toSpeightstown, a picturesque area blessed with abundant heritage. SaintPeter’s Bay, a superb beachfront residence, is fully completed andoperational; Port Ferdinand, an exclusive marina resort, is alreadycompleted to Phase Two and will officially open in January 2015; whilePalazzate, which is currently under construction, has been hailed as themost opulent and sophisticated residence ever built in Barbados. When considering the very positive impact that the initial constructionand continued operations of these premier properties will have on thecurrent and long-term economy of Barbados, it is glaringly evident thatthe JADA story is well worth telling.

JADA started out as a small construction company under theleadership of current Managing Director Philip Tempro and, even to thisday, JADA is in essence a civil engineering contracting company. However,during the past decade, thanks to the considerable and astutereinvestment of profits back into the business, JADA has evolvedconsiderably with the rapid expansion of the company into a multi-faceted organization that offers a comprehensive range of services fromdeveloping and planning, construction and manufacturing, right throughto the installation and support of the latest Information andCommunication Technologies.

The key point at which JADA gained critical mass was when PhilipTempro teamed up with Bjorn Bjerkhamn, the current Chairman, who hadpreviously established Bjerkhamn Construction in 1970, thus adding morethan 30 years of experience in the construction sector in Barbados tocomplement the professional Civil Engineering expertise of Tempro.Bjerkhamn Construction was already involved in an established upmarketdevelopment, the Port St. Charles luxury residential marina, so JADA had
