I. Généralités/ General aspect• Superficie: 1 267 000 km2;• Population estimée en 2012
à 16 274 738 hts• Taux d’accroissement de la
population 3,3%;• Pays enclavé, le port le plus
proche, celui de Cotonou au Bénin, se trouve à plus de 700 km de ses frontières;
• Climat majoritairement aride, 89% du territoire reçoit moins de 350 mm de pluie par an;
• Area : 1,267,000 Km2• .Estimated population in 2012:

• Land locked country, the nearest port that of Cotonou is 700 km far from its borders;

30 milliards de m3 d’eau drainés annuellement; 2.5 milliards de m3 d’écoulements souterrains renouvelables et environ 2000 milliards de m3 d’eau souterraine non renouvelables;

de Soumarana, Blanc de Galmi.• Commercialisation• 280.000 Tonnes soit 80% de la production;• Débouchés: Côte d’Ivoire (39% des
exportations), Ghana (26%), Nigéria (25%), Bénin, Togo et Burkina Faso.
• Un circuit de réexportation de l’oignon nigérien se développe vers les pays européens via la Côte d’Ivoire.
Onion• Production • Production areas : All over the country but the
production is more concentrated in Tahoua, Agadez, Tillaberi and Zinder regions,
• Around 250,000 Metric tons per year,• Around 18.500 ha cultivated per year,• Available varieties: Violet de Galmi ; Blanc de
Soumarana; Blanc de Galmi.• Marketing• 280,000 Metric Tons i.e 80% of the total
production;• Market outlets: Ivory Coast (39% of volume of
exportation), Ghana (26%), Nigeria (25%), Benin, Togo and Burkina Faso.
• A network for the re-exportation of Niger onion toward European countries through Ivory Coast is in expansion.
