2016 Campaign Results (OTSC) statistics

Input from G4CAP

• pre-IR

• post-IR

• Campaign Results statistics

Why necessary:

• Need to know that imagery is used correctly (‘effective’

controls means doing the right things to produce a result)

• ‘efficient’ use of budget

• Need to prepare for CAP2020+ yes, but still live with

present CAP until then …

… only 10 MS

finalized the

requested 2016

2016 Campaign Results (OTSC) statistics

1. A lot of other statistics can be analysed if basis is complete…

2. Need to re-work to obtain clear and exactly the information

needed

3. Coordinate AGRI/JRC requests (no double work for MS)

4. Deadline on right moment post-campaign

5. New questions to understand better image use, and justify budget

request

6. This will be done for your campaign results statistics of 2017 (i.e.

Campaign Result module in G4CAP will be re-worked.)

7. Input to JRC from MS is welcome (on items 4, 5 …) by email (*)

giving suggestions …

2017 - HR profiles and S2

• HR profile 2016 Campaign: 30% of HR volume

• 2017: 12% at end of iterations (end Dec 2016)

• 2017: 5% at G4CAP insertion (mid January Reg. deadline)

• S2 use 2016: approx. 11/32 MS Regions

• S2 use 2017: 16/32 MS Regions (i.e. use S2alert)

• S2alert in background at JRC, running daemon: i.e. we are

running on a separate server S2alert for all valid AW for all

ARs (VHR and HR); CC 0 % (opaque cloud) (but also

higher); results are checked before granting any re-task, and

to monitor S2 success rates.

2017 - other: atmospheric correction algorithm

Atmospheric Compensation (AComp), a capability to improve image quality and clarity in challenging atmospheric conditions by physically normalizing DNs to surface reflectance

Will be available as a choice in G4CAP next campaign - for interested MS also for 2017 contact us.

Results:

• The WV4 PSH ortho imagery geometric accuracy meets

the requirement of corresponding to the VHR prime and backup

profiles defined in the VHR profile based Technical Specifications

• Moreover, the RMSEx, and RMSEy threshold of 1:5.000

scale imagery of 1.25m is fulfilled for all angles 9˚, 24˚,

36˚ONA when GCPs (≥3) are applied using RPC function

• From the results obtained, it is suggested however to

always use ≥ 4 GCPs

• Both software Erdas and PCI perform equally

• Some smaller issues being investigated

• Report will be published and made available.

2017 - other: G4CAP news

• Lisbon -> G4CAP 2.1, now -> G4CAP 2.7

• most Lisbon feedback/requests have been

addressed and implemented

• Enhancements in S2 Alert module

• Reports now available for MSs / Contractors too

• Brand-new Feasibility management

• Users behavior is more controlled

• AWs pre-extension for MSs

• Introduction of ESPG codes for ortho-Profile AWs

• Automatic password change at 1st login

• Reports can now be stored and reloaded after

some time

Campaign 2018

• Further HR cut => S2, only HHR remains

• VHR2 => HHR …

• Rework G4CAP, pre-IR module; envelope given to MS 01/11

to avoid too much iteration.

• Thank you !!!
