First SketchesWhen I had come up with the concept for the animation, I had first looked at images of hookworms to draw up characters. The first few sketches looked creepy and that was not what I wanted to have in the film. I wanted to make something funnier and more humorous than the actual concept of what hookworms really are.

First Storyboard

First Environmental Thumbnails

When drawing out thumbnails I decided to start with abstract styles. By doing this I hoped to establish an atmosphere thats similar to the inside of the human body.

Character ThumbnailsThe first drawings I had done of the hookworms were very creature like, and I decided I wanted to humanize them to give them a relation to the audience.

Second Storyboard

Hookworm CharactersAt this stage I had established how I wanted my hookworm characters to look.

Digital Artwork- EnvironmentsTo make the animation more interesting and unique I wanted to take each part of the body featured in the film, and put it into a new perspective to make it appear like a landscape rather than part of a living body.

Third Storyboard- For Crit

Clay ModelsSince the character designs of the hookworms where very blob-like this meant they lacked a solid shape. Every time I drew them out they always looked slightly different, so I made two small models to reference from when modelling in Maya.

Modelling in MayaWhen working in Maya I found having the clay models helpful to have with me. I studied the model to determine what I did on the computer, so that I could replicate the clay sculptures.

Production ArtworkBefore modelling the sets and props I had to draw out a few aspects of the film first.
