TheworksoutlinedherecovertheexcavationandinstallationoftheonshorepipelinewithintheTerminal
and all associated diversion of services, surfacewatermanagement, concreteworks, gas pipeline and

PURPOSE This methodology describes the works associated with tie in of the onshore
pipelineintotheBellanaboyGasTerminalandtheassociateddiversionofsurface
waterintotheLeenamoreCatchment.
LOCATION NorthWesterncorneroftheTerminal.Pipelinechainage91.42to91.72.
TIMESCALE Approximately6Months
TECHNIQUE SitePreparation
A number of existing serviceswithin the Terminal will have to be diverted to
facilitate pipeline installation including; surface water drainage, groundwater
drainage, security fenceandassociated lighting, roaddrainage systemand road
lighting.Thesequenceisasfollows:
At the tiein location, remove gabion baskets, strip topsoil, demolishconcretechannelatthebottomoftheembankmentandstripoffsurface

Removelightpolesandassociatedcablejunctionboxes.
Fence

the
Terminal
to
facilitate
pipelineactivities.
Dismantle both existing security fences inside the temporary workingarea.
Saw cut bituminous road layers, excavate and remove to a recyclingfacility.
Demolish concrete open channels and remove to a licensed recyclingfacility.
PipelineInstallation
Pipelineinstallation
within
the
Terminal
consists
of
standard
welding
and
pipe
trenching procedures used elsewhere on the onshore pipeline in addition to
anchor block construction, valve pit construction and overground pipe work
painting.Thesequenceisasfollows:
Excavatepipelinetrenchfrompigreceivertotheanchorblocklocation. Excavate anchor block location and prepare surface for steel fixing by
placing blinding layer of concrete. This will also control surface water
withintheanchorblockexcavation.
Install steel reinforcement, erect temporary timber shuttering andpourconcretebase.

SurfaceWaterManagement
Surfacewater frompipeline constructionworks that liewithin theCarrowmore
Lake catchment (ch 91.42 to 91.72) will be collected, attenuated and taken
through a settlement tank or treatment/filtration unit before being discharged
intotheLeenamoreRivercatchment(northofch91.42).
