*O.C.E.A.N. Binder and Agenda-everyday!

*Envelope System (all money needs to come in a LABELED envelope inside the pocket-Right Back to School).

*PLEASE look at and initial the agenda every night!! They will contain important info you need to know!

*“Take Home Folder” is a BLUE folder that will come home every Friday! (coming soon)

*O.C.E.A.N. – Organized Communication Every Achiever Needs

*Your child’s O.C.E.A.N. binder should come home every night and returned to school the next day.

*Please sign your child’s agenda every night. A responsibility mark will be given to students who don’t have their parent’s signature.

*Please keep your child’s agenda, page protectors, divider, Newsletters, Calendars, Word Walls, & home work instructions in the binder always.

*Papers on the “Left At Home” side of the binder should be emptied out as soon as they come home. Papers on the “Return to School” side should be reviewed, completed, & then returned

*Students are always given a verbal warning first.

*If the behavior continues the student will move his or her magnet from Good Day to Ready to Learn. If this doesn’t stop the behavior the student will move his or her magnet to 5 minutes off, indicating a conduct mark. Students may end up moving their chef several times if they receive more than 1 mark.

*Students who do not get any conduct marks all week get to eat lunch in the classroom with me.

*Great behavior from the whole class earns seashells in the pail. Once they have earned 100 seashells we will have a pizza party.

*My students have the opportunity to earn “Paradise Points” for excellent work on assignments. These points will be kept by students. Students will choose when to cash in their points for different rewards or to save them for a bigger reward.

*If your child is dropped off before 7:15 he or she will need to go to the gym or to the cafeteria for breakfast.

*Students will work in their Morning Math Journals & Sunrise Notebooks after they have unpacked.

*We dismiss students at 2:30.

*If there is a transportation change please make sure that you send a written note with the change for the office to approve.

*Please do not send a transportation change through email. I may not be able to check it before dismissal-when in doubt call the office!

*Spelling and word wall words should be studied nightly for the tests given on Friday.

*Related Arts is from 11:30-12:10

*Our lunch is from 10:35-11:05am

*Join your child for lunch-remember your Driver’s License

*No outside for or drink brought in to the cafeteria

*If you come to eat with your child you must check in at the office! No exceptions.

*The round tables in the cafeteria (by the windows) are for visitors. Other children may NOT sit with you and your child. This rule comes directly from administration!

*Lunch money for the week should be sent in on Mondays in an envelope LABELED with the child’s name, Mrs. Peek, 1st Grade, and purpose of money.

*Meal Pay…online lunch payment system is available at www.MealpayPlus.com.

*You are welcome to send in treats (cupcakes, cookies, etc.) for your child’s birthday. However, don’t feel obligated to do this.

*Please send me a note 1 day in advance if you plan to send in treats.

*They will usually be enjoyed outside at recess.

*If your child has to miss school please send in a note the day he or she returns to school, parents may only write 10 notes for absences.

*If you need to schedule a doctor’s appointment or dentist appointment during school hours, please try to make it for the end of the school day. This would prevent your child from missing out on the bulk of our instruction.

*Please send a snack for your child each day.

*Snacks should be healthy choices, such as pretzels, cheese sticks, goldfish, dried fruit, yogurt, etc. No candy or sugary snacks!

Using pictorial objects and their trademarked Touchpoints, we teach

children to associate numerals with real values.

Hands-On Science Kits- used to teach key science skills in a hands-on way. We get 4 science kits a year; Weather, Comparing and Measuring, Solids and Liquids, and Organisms.

*If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please write them in your child’s agenda.

*I check agendas daily and will be able to respond right back.

*I check my email every morning before school starts and often times not again until the end of the day.

*Please get your family and friends to collect box tops for our class.

*The school collects box tops and our class wants to try our best to collect the most. We’re competitive!

*We will take two field trips this year. One in the fall and one in the spring. They are still being scheduled.

*When sent home, please send permission slips & money as soon as you can.

*Sharpen pencils from home.

*Volunteer to come in 1 day a week to make copies, Rizzo, grade papers, laminate projects, work with a small group, or help with other tasks.

*Volunteer to plan class parties.

*Sign up sheets are out!Volunteer in

our Classroom!

*Students order snacks on Fridays!

*All money needs to be sent in a sealed envelope LABELED with the child’s name and what they would like to order.

*If the order is not on the envelope the money will be returned home and the child will receive the free snack.

*Reward at home for good behavior.

*“Mr. Earl” is coming to kick off our back to school fundraiser next Friday-8/22.

*The proceeds from the fundraiser go straight back to our classroom!
