Steps for accessing Google Classrooms

1.  Go to classroom.google.com

2.  Log in with personal Google email account (either parent or older student’s email)

Note: This is the email you have set up to contact the school via RenWeb in your school profile section

3.  Click the plus icon in the top right corner

4.  Click “Join class”

5.  Enter the class code sent by the teacher

Note: These codes will be sent out to families via email starting Friday, March 20th

6.  Repeat for each individual class for 6th grade and up or for homeroom class for K – 5th grades

Important  Note:  Joining  a  Google  Classroom  may  require  you  to  create  a  Google  account,  but  it  DOES  NOT  require  a  gmail  email  account.  

When  invited  to  join  a  Google  Classroom  by  a  teacher,  you  will  be  prompted  to  supply  an  email  with  a  suggesFon  for  “@gmail.com”  BUT  you  may  also  click  “use  my  exisFng  email  address”  if  you  prefer.  

PCCA  tested  creaFng  a  Google  Classroom  account  with  a  Yahoo  email  address,  and  it  worked  just  fine!  

Side  note:  If  you  are  part  of  Mrs.  AbboU’s  virtual  book  club,  then  you  are  already  using  Google  Classroom!  

Most  will  receive  an  invitaFon  link  via  email,  but  the  teacher  may  also  simply  supply  the  unique  code  to  you.  

Steps for accessing Zoom on a computer 1. Go to zoom.us/download

2. Find heading that reads “Zoom meeting for clients”

3. Click on the icon that reads “DOWNLOAD”

4. Wait for the application to download on to your computer

5. Follow the installation instructions as prompted by your computer

6. Open Zoom application

7. Click “Join Room” icon

8. Enter “Meeting ID” given to students by the teacher

Note: These codes will be put on Google Classroom by the teacher no later than Monday, March 30th

9. Enter students full name under “Your Name”

10. Do not click on boxes labeled “Don’t Connect to Audio” or “Turn Off My Video”

11. Click “Join Room”

Side  note:  If  you  are  part  of  grammar  roboFcs  class,  you  may  already  have  used  Zoom  with  your  student!    

Steps for accessing Zoom through the mobile application 1. Go to to the App Store

2. Download the "ZOOM Cloud Meetings" application

3. Open the app and create an account

4. Sign in with your new account

5. Click the “Join” icon

6. Enter the “Meeting ID” (provided to students by the teacher in Google Classroom)

Note: These codes will be put on Google Classroom by the teacher no later than Monday, March 30th

7. Enter students full name under “Your Name”

8. Ensure you don't check the buttons labeled “Don’t Connect to Audio” or “Turn Off My Video”

9. Click “Join”

Download the application titled ZOOM Cloud Messages

Sign in with Zoom if you already have an account. If not, sign up and create one

Use the email and password you created to log into your Zoom account

Click the "Join" icon

Enter the Meeting ID *The teacher will put the meeting ID on Google Classroom

Enter the student's full name

Do not press the buttons titled "Don't Connect To Audio" or "Turn Off My Video

Finally, press "Join" to enter the Meeting
