St. Anne School Family Newsletter
January 20, 2016 Dear St. Anne Parents, Our parent community is well known for its wonderful social events and gatherings. Our upcoming GALA Auction is just such an event! Our event chairs, Renee Spertzel and Gina Whelchel, along with their co-‐chairs, are planning a great evening for everyone on March 19. The GALA highlights wonderful artwork as well as fun baskets for parents to bid on. The hors d’oeuvres, refreshments, music and dancing round out an evening that has something for everyone!!! Please find the reservation order form on-‐line or included with this newsletter. See the GALA update below for more information. Grab a few friends and bring them along to this event. I guarantee that after attending this event one time, you will be counting the days until our next GALA! See you there.
Congratulations to Kailee Kim (5-‐2), our school’s “Spelling Bee Champion”! Kailee will be moving to the next level of competition, the written Spelling Bee Competition. If Kailee is successful at this level she will move on the Bay Area Bee which will take place at Lawrence Hall of Science on February 20. Congratulations to all our finalists who did an AWESOME job in the Spelling Bee! REPORT CARDS GO HOME TOMORROW Report cards will be sent home tomorrow. Please be sure to ask your child for his/her report card. Please remember to sign the report card envelope and send it back to the student’s teacher ASAP. Thank you. HONOR ROLL ASSEMBLY – JAN. 22 Our Honor Roll Assembly and Schoolwide Learning Expectation Awards for grades 5-‐8 will take place this Friday, January 22, at 8:30 in the upper cafeteria. Parents are welcome to join us.
SCIENCE FAIR – TOMORROW NIGHT Our Science Fair is scheduled to take place tomorrow evening from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Students from grades seven and eight will be presenting their projects and answering questions. Our Science Fair is open to the community, so please stop by and see the creative projects. Judges will pick the top projects to move to the next level of competition at the Randall Museum Science Fair. Special thanks go out to Mrs. Pandey, our 5-‐8 science teacher, for helping students with their projects and for coordinating this annual event. We also thank all our students and wish them all the best!

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS’ WEEK JAN. 31 -‐ FEB. 4 Let us celebrate together our school’s past, present, and hopes for the future. The theme for Catholic Schools’ Week is Communities of Faith, Knowledge, and Service. Please join us on Sunday, January 31 for Mass and Open House from 10:30-‐ 1:00. All students should be in full-‐dress uniform for this occasion. We look forward to seeing all our families. SAPTO MTG. – CHANGE OF DATE Due to Chinese New Year and the Presidents’ Holiday the SAPTO meeting for February has been changed to February 1. Please mark your calendars. PARENT TOUR – FEBRUARY 2 We invite all interested parties to take a tour while school is in session to see our school in action. For tour dates, visit our school homepage at www.stanne.com. GRANDPARENTS’ DAY – FEB. 3 Save the date! Mark your calendars for this upcoming special event to be held on Wednesday, Feb. 3. A special lunch and entertainment are planned for our grandparents. TEACHER-‐IN-‐SERVICE – FEB. 5 We will be closed Friday, February 5, for an Archdiocesan Teacher-‐In Service Day. School will resume Monday, February 8. STAR AUCTION GALA – MARCH 19 Save the date!!! 2. Pay your fees online at the time of registration.
(2015-2016 fees: $100 registration, $100 sports fee and $85 uniform deposit)
3. Contact the basketball chair if you are not able to attend evaluation. The evaluations will help determine team placement.

By utilizing our modified equipment we are able to bring the tennis to you! With ANTS’ very own 'most touches possible partner work, practice & play' philosophy we get away from forming lines and the boring traditional styles of managing kids on the court. ANTS Tennis focuses on all-inclusive methods that are meant to develop the agility, balance, and coordination (ABC's) of the athlete. We promote fun while developing a strong set of the FUNdamentals to consistently and progressively build upon. Our goal is help our kids develop the skills that are necessary to begin to enjoy fun, positive, healthy competition and consistently improve. We always stay supportive and focus our practices around having fun. Our overall goal is to help kids fall in love with exercise and health, then fall in love with the sport of tennis!
Kindergarten:
Curriculum focused on the ABC’s (agility, balance, coordination) of the player, strong fundamental development, and having fun!. They will learn how to send and receive, track, move to, and hit, the ball! We always maintain a fun and supportive environment.
1st - 2nd:
Curriculum that is focused on the ABC’s (agility, balance, coordination) of the player, but also designed to help them learn all of the fundamental elements that are necessary to begin to play and compete in a healthy, fun environment. They will learn everything from boundaries, footwork, and strokes to scoring, sportsmanship and etiquette! Always fun and supportive!
3rd-6th:
Curriculum that is focused on the ABC’s (agility, balance, coordination) of the player, but also designed to help them get up to playing and competing speed with solid fundamentals as soon as possible. With more drills designed for higher intensity practice and play. Always geared towards having fun and staying positive both when practicing and competing.
