SSUK SPRINGBOARD 18.09.18
Archimedes Principle
Any fluid applies a buoyant force to
an object that is immersed in it.
Buoyant force =
Weight of fluid displaced
FB = W Fluid
1m3 water has a mass of
1000 kg or 1 Tonne
AMBIENT LIFTER
Lifts 5Te in 3m of water
AMBIENT LIFTER
250m3 coil of pipe lifts
220 Tonnes
No vessel crane
Cheaper vessels
No waiting on weather,
so fewer vessel days
OLYMPIC SPOOLBASE
Picture of olympic spoolbaseHow spoolbase works
Current Industry Challenges:
• High vessel costs
• Limited global spoolbase capacity
• Restricted spoolbase access due to concentration of spoolbase ownership
• Lack of site availability and sustainability at ports for existing linear spoolbase
configurations
• Lay vessels spending more than 80 days alongside reeling stalks of pipe, EIP
innovation can reduce this time considerably
Solution
• Patented technology system which revolutionises the method of manufacturing,
storing, loading and transpooling piping for pipe lay projects.
• Modular system for onshore fabrication and storage of pipelines which allows
long lengths of pipeline (10km +) to be stored prior to reeling.
• System allows spoolbases to be built as close to the field location as practicable,
sometimes several days sailing closer than existing spoolbases
