Over the life of a 30-year loanthere is about a 3X greater chance

of experiencing a flood than having a fire.

Township’s Responsibilities

Review Preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs), make corrections and appeals if necessary

Conduct outreach to those affected by changes to the FIRMs

Adopt floodplain regulations that meet the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) requirements or be suspended from NFIP

Federal floodplain management regulations and mandatory flood insurance purchase requirements apply in these zones

Zone A – area subject to inundation with no BFE or flood depths available

In the 2014 reporting year for the MS-4 program there were 518 outfalls. This consisted of public and private outfalls.

The Township is only responsible for public outfalls; 8 outfalls are public, all others are private.

Springettsbury Township monitors 25% of the outfalls each year.
