SuccessstoriesandfuturestarsMillfieldisdelightedtowelcomeanewChessScholarthisyear,StephenWhatleyfromGibraltar.ThisisanopportunityforStephentoaccesstoplevelcoachingandhaveeasieraccesstokeyevents.Hehasalreadyqualifiedfornextyear’sBritish(adult)Championships.

AstheMillfieldChessCaptain,AlexGouldhasbothhelpedtheteamexcel,reachingtheQuarterFinalsoftheNationalChampionships,andplayedanimportantroleindevelopinglinkswithinthelocalcommunity.TheskillsdevelopedinchesshavenodoubthelpedhimsecureaplaceatCambridgeUniversity.

2EliteperformanceEliteperformershavepersonalisedprogrammesofstudy.ThiswillincludeindividuallessonswithourresidentGrandmaster,MatthewTurner.Theyreceivesupportateventsandusethelatesttechnologytoevaluateanddeveloptheirgame.

CosimaKeenhasrepresentedEnglandattheWorldChampionshipsinBrazilandwillthisyearplaymajortournamentsinMontenegroandtheUAE.AnindividualprogrammeofstudyatMillfieldallowsCosimatocombinethiswithafullacademicprogramme,studyingtwoinstruments,ridingandrepresentingMillfieldatskiing.
