Term 2, Issue 12 Friday 3 May 2019
A message from our Principal
Welcome back to Term 2!
We have certainly hit the ground running with our Athletics Carnival on the
first day back. Congratulations to all the students who did their best on the
day and thank you to all our parents and friends that volunteered their time
running events and at the canteen. The winning house was Wattle. It was
also great to see new records set on the day.
State Representatives for Swimming
Our students (pictured above) represented the Riverina region at the NSW
PSSA Swimming Championships. We are very proud of our team and their
achievements to represent at this level.
ANZAC Day
Our students (pictured over the page) represented our school community in
the annual ANZAC parade during the holidays. This is such an honour for our
school to be a part of this significant event.
Riverina Dance Festival Success
Our students have been selected for a consecutive year to perform at the
Riverina Dance Festival which will be held in Griffith on Friday 21 June. This
is such an incredible achievement for our girls. They have been practicing
their dance from Term 4 last year and their hard work and dedication has
paid off. Tickets are on sale Monday 13 May. Please contact the Griffith
Regional Theatre booking office on 69628444 or
www.griffithregionaltheatre.com.au.
Learning @ SWPS:
Showing Empathy
Next week we will be focusing on
developing our skills of empathy.
Empathy involves caring for other
people and understanding that I may
feel differently to others about
something. Student thinking may
include:
I will aim to put myself in other
people’s shoes to help me
understand their perspectives.
I will respect other people’s
ideas a comments, even though I
may not agree.
I will pay full attention to others
and listen to them.
I will try to understand other
people’s emotions and thoughts
behind their words.
Through being empathetic, SWPS aims
to bring students closer together,
reduce conflicts and open student’
eyes.
