BEGINNING BEGINNERS

• Achieving the necessary intensity of drill is difficult, especially with quiet, apprehensive children.

• Andrew Bear can often help.• Sometimes we start by having the child’s

own bear visit to say ‘hi’ to Andrew.• We practise before they meet.

da-dah!

The first time we play this game we all wear ties. Andrew, the child, parent or parents and the clinician.

The ‘hi tie’ / ‘bye tie’ game can be played by flicking the tie so that it hangs down your front (for ‘hi tie’) and down your back (for ‘bye tie’).

Ties on elastic work well.
