OUR EDUCATION SYSTEM
GLOBAL EDUCATION IN THE NATIONAL CONTEXT
The curriculum applied at Kesatuan Bangsa School is unique in that it accommodates the development of universal education within the national context. Our curriculum fosters students who are ready to face global challenges, wherever they are, while upholding the values of nationhood and nationalism. Curriculum development is a continuous process that is to be evaluated in line with the latest developments in science and technology.
A BETTER FUTURE THROUGH QUALITY EDUCATION
In education, a strong foundation leads to great potential; appropriate education at a young age is so important. Our school curriculum focuses on key growth areas, such as cognitive, social, emotional, and personal skills, providing each student with individual care in each of these areas, in order to promote peak development.
EDUCATION WITH LOVE AND TRUST
In order to bring out the innovative, creative, and curious individuality in a student, a school’s curriculum should be tailored to the needs of the individual. Throughout the education process at Kesatuan Bangsa, our main focus is not only on encouraging our students to pursue their own paths to self-improvement, academic excellence, social interaction, physical fitness, and information acquisition, but also to act as mentors and guides,
SMP – SMA KESATUAN BANGSA

each step of the way, ensuring that each student remains on the correct path.
A COMBINATION OF COMPETENT TEACHERS AND THE
NATIONAL CURRICULUM
Through the combination of a sound national and international curricula foundation, and the support of competent teachers, students are trained to habituate a global attitude, that will enable them to interact effectively in the international environment.
NATIONAL EXAMINATION PREPARATION
As part of the national curriculum, we understand that students need to prepare for the National Examination (UN) as it is a tool to measure standards of competency, and a requirement to pursue higher education in Indonesia. Therefore, we provide an intensive program for UN preparation alongside the regular lessons.
SAT TEST
The SAT test, which measures students’ analytical abilities in Mathematics and English, is one of the requirements to apply to universities in various countries. By taking part in this test, students can achieve an SAT score to gauge their academic capabilities and compare their achievement with other students around the world.
TOEFL iBT TEST
Students who have sufficient English proficiency, are required to take the TOEFL iBT test. This test is an international standard test
SMP – SMA KESATUAN BANGSA
STUDENT-PARENT HANDBOOK
which is very useful for students who would like to pursue higher education.
OUR LANGUAGE POLICY
We implement bilingual education in the learning process. Science subjects, such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, are taught in English and supported by books in the same language. The non-science subjects are taught in Indonesian and are also supported by books in the same language.
INTENSIVE ENGLISH PROGRAM
The standard of English education at our school is based on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). Under this intense criteria, our students focus on improving four main skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. Furthermore, our native English teachers help reinforce good habits throughout the students’ language acquisition process.
EXPLORING TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION
Educational methodology must constantly improve in order to remain relevant. Living in the information age, classical methods of teaching have become less and less viable, and a need for more effective, active and engaging methods has become necessary. At Kesatuan Bangsa, by combining more contemporary educational methods with modern technology, we have created a more interactive and beneficial and learning environment for our students.

THE IMPORTANCE OF OLYMPIADS AT KESATUAN BANGSA SCHOOL
Early in the first semester, Olympiad candidate students
participate in introductory lessons after being selected through
intensely competitive examinations. Subsequently, considerations
are made according to their achievements, to determine the
groups that each student will join, and also who will be sent to the
National Science Olympiad (OSN) exams. The Olympiad enables
students to gain more disciplined study habits, improve analytical
thinking, and also have the opportunity to be awarded a
scholarship.
CREATIVE INDIVIDUALS IN THE FIELD OF SCIENCE
A variety of science projects at our school aims to nurture individual research and analytical skills. Our young inventors pursue their studies under the tutelage of our teachers. These students with the hard work they put into their projects not only represent a brighter future for the nation but also for the world.
CREATIVITY THROUGH ART
Through visual arts, students have the opportunity to express their thoughts and ideas as well as showcase their knowledge and talents through various techniques, materials and technologies in the field of design. Using both traditional and contemporary materials, our program assists students in mastering various methods of expression as well as helps them to improve their manipulation of these various artistic materials.

SPORTS FOR A HEALTHIER LIFE
Keeping the body, as well as the mind, healthy and active requires exercise. We offer our students a variety of sports and other activities to keep them fit, and also help them to discover their hidden athletic abilities. Alongside the regular curriculum of physical education, our school offers a variety of sports clubs for our students to join throughout the academic year.
BECAUSE LEARNING MUST BE REAL
Learning does not always have to occur in the classroom. Each semester students undertake study tours to various locations in line with the topics discussed during lessons. Through study tours, students make direct observations and analyse a variety of topics in a more natural atmosphere.
NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL STUDY TOURS
Travelling can be enjoyable as well as educational for our students. The school offers 4 travel program categories: local/metropolitan, national, international and project based field trips.
QUALITY EDUCATION FOR ALL
We greatly appreciate dedicated and high achieving students. As a token of appreciation we are committed to providing scholarships in a variety of fields for academic and non-academic achievement, for up to 20% of the total number of students every year.

MORAL EDUCATION AND CHARACTER BUILDING
Kesatuan Bangsa School is deeply concerned about moral standards. Our goal is to build new generations of highly competent graduates with high moral standards. Moral values are embedded in character building activities. The promotion of moral values is very important at this stage of development It is expected when students advance to the next level of education, that these moral values will have become part of their character.
ONE-ON-ONE MEETINGS
In addition to weekly joint activities in each class, every Homeroom Teacher is obliged to periodically spend one-on-one time with each student. These meetings are aimed at providing students with a natural space for communication in which they are encouraged to share ideas or any issues they might have. Each student is given time and space to exchange ideas both individually as well as in a group setting.
COLLEGE COUNSELLING & CAREER PLANNING
We believe it takes careful planning for students to achieve success in both academic and non-academic sectors. Furthermore, we believe that students, as the main stakeholders, should be involved early on in designing a future that works for them. Therefore, the school has provided a special department for College and Career Counselling to assist students and parents with educational planning for further education or future careers. Students who are involved in future study and/or career planning from the outset, are more inclined to a higher level of responsibility for improving their lives.

DISTRIBUTION OF SACRIFICIAL MEAT
On the annual celebration of Eid al-Adha (or Eid al-Qurban), our school takes part in the ritual sacrifice of livestock. STUDENTS’ UNION
OSIS (Students’ Union) is a forum for students to develop their social and leadership skills. Through democratic elections, students are taught to conduct a variety of student activities throughout the school year. The organization allows students to gain many new social skills that are not necessarily taught in the classroom.
SUPPORT FACILITIES
Equipped with comfortable school buildings and environment,
complete with a variety of Arts, Sports and Science facilities,
students can study in a modern atmosphere that supports the
learning process.
OUR SCHOOL BOARDING SYSTEM
Our goal is to provide a different kind of education with the
provision of our boarding facilities. Our accommodation style is
quite different from ordinary school dormitories. We have
mentors who live onsite with students in the dormitories. (24
hours). The mentors are role models that students can look to as
an example of good behaviour. They also assist students with their
studies. The harmonious relationship between the mentors and
students creates a comfortable family atmosphere for students
living away from home.

In the case of an emergency (natural disaster), the first step
to be taken is to save yourself. There are several safety
steps to be taken when a natural disaster occurs, including :
A. Earthquake Protocol
a. Stay calm and do not panic so you have the best chance of
saving yourself.
b. Leave the building immediately if you are inside when the
earthquake occurs. Find a safe place that is not near any
trees or structures that could fall on you.
SMP – SMA KESATUAN BANGSA
STUDENT-PARENT HANDBOOK
c. If you are inside a tall building or one with several levels,
leaving the building will be very difficult and will require a
long time so you should find shelter under a table or
another place that can protect you and withstand falling
objects.
d. If you are in a busy place, avoid the rush to an exit.
Instead, immediately find a protected place that can
withstand falling objects.
B. Fire Protocol a. Stay calm and do not panic so you have the best chance
of saving yourself.
b. Leave the building immediately if you are inside when a
fire has started. Look for a save door but do not open it
immediately because an even bigger fire might come
from behind the door. First check the state of the door
before opening it. Place the back of your hand against
the door and the door handle. If the handle or the door
feel hot, don’t open the door. Find an alternative
window or door to run to. However, if the door or handle
do not feel hot, slowly open the door. Also make sure
there is no thick smoke coming from your chosen escape
route.
c. Avoid trying to rescue valuable possessions. The most
important thing is to save yourself from the fire.
SMP – SMA KESATUAN BANGSA
STUDENT-PARENT HANDBOOK
d. Stop and roll if you are on fire. If your clothes are
burning, do not run. If possible, remove the burning
items. However, if this is not possible, put the fire out by
rolling on the floor to extinguish the flames.
e. Crawl and don’t stand up. Heat and flames travel fast so
it is better to walk bending low to the ground or even
crawl if you have to. This is the safest way to get away
from the fire, especially if the place is full of smoke.
f. Cover your face so the acrid smoke does not go up your
nose and make it difficult to breath. Close your mouth
and nose with an item of clothing. If possible use a wet
towel. While covering your face, keep walking so you can
escape from the location of the fire.
