OPPOSE ASSISTED SUICIDELegislation has been introduced in the New York State Legislature that would allow doctors to legally prescribe a lethal dose of pills at the request of a terminally ill patient. This legislation is unnecessary, fl awed and dangerous.• There is no screening or counseling for depression. • It undermines the medical profession. • It sends the message that suicide is acceptable. • It discriminates against people with disabilities.• There are increasing fi nancial incentives to limit care.
