schedule.

We are in the process of examining these components of career planning using the CFNC web site–What am I interested in? (Interest

Inventory)–What are my abilities? (using Basic Skills

Profile and SAT data)–What is important to me? (Values

Inventory)–What does the future hold for this career?

(Job Outlook data from various sources).

• They will look for colleges that offer a major related to the results of their career exploration.– CFNC web site & individual college web sites

• 16 seniors attended a College Fair at East High School two weeks ago.

• 9 seniors will attend a Health Careers Education Awareness Conference in Asheville on Tuesday, Sept. 28.

• Assistance completing college applications.– Students will use CFNC to apply online to NC colleges

and send electronic transcripts.• Participation in CFNC’s College Application Week,

November 15-19. Many private colleges waive application fees during this week only.

• CFNC will conduct a Financial Aid information meeting on November 15, 6:00-8:00 pm, at RS Central.

• Our students are welcome to contact Janice Waugh with McNair Foundation (245-4339) for assistance completing their FAFSA (after income taxes are completed).

• A scholarship list is posted on Mrs. Merritt’s faculty page of the REaCH web site and these scholarships are discussed during Senior Seminar.

• Monitoring status in college classes with Ms. Adams, ICC College Liaison.

• Spring registration.• ICC graduation status.• Community college transfer credit to

university (using CFNC’s Transfer Navigator).

• SAT/ACT registration.• Time management skills.• Personal/social support as seniors deal

with this major life transition.

• Cap and Gown – use for both high school and college graduations - $45.00 (Campus Supply)

• Invitations and special orders for high school graduation– see brochure (Campus Supply)

• Gold hood – Associates of Arts or Sciences – 25.00 (REaCH)

• Gold stole – NC Academic Scholar – $25.00 (REaCH)

• Gold Tassel – 3.187 Local honor $10.00 (REaCH)

• Cord – college certificate (color depends on type of certificate) $25.00 (REaCH)

• HS diploma and cover – free• College diploma and cover – price tba (ICC)

• Campus Supply/ Herff Jones – September 30th, From 11:00 – 12:30 in the Student Center/Commons (cap, gown, tassel, invitations, special items)

• Gold hoods/cords can be purchased from REaCH anytime but other items (stole and gold tassel )will be available a few days before graduation due to GPA requirements

• Hawaii has not been Board approved• Parent donor will pay $700.00 toward

the cost for each student and pay for three chaperones.

• Leave the Wednesday or Thursday before spring break. Friday we are out of school for Good Friday (trip is over Easter weekend).

• Six nights• Min. of 5 chaperones

• Student can not have any out-of-school suspensions before trip

• Student must be passing all courses• Student/parent must sign an agreement

concerning behavior on the trip• Consequences for inappropriate behavior

can result in long-term suspension, short-term suspension, failure to walk at graduation, or other disciplinary actions

• Students must be on their very best behavior as they represent REaCH on the first senior trip

• Looking at two hotels in Waikiki – Aston Waikiki and the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

• Costs differ between 3 person rooms and 4 person rooms/ hotels on or off the beach.

• Some meals will be covered but most meals will not be included in the price.

• Cost includes: fun/educational activities each day (excluding arrival and departure days)

• Never allowed in the ocean or pool without adult supervision

• Each adult will only supervise 3 or less students

• Students must carry a cell phone at all times for safety reasons

• $150.00 deposit can be refunded up until first deposit is made to travel agency (Late October or early November). We will be locked into a price at that point and we cannot make any changes.

• $150.00 due by the 25th of each month• Fundraisers will be offered to help

cover the student costs.

• Spartan Marketing – August/September 40-50% profit

• BBQ Lunch• Candy/pizza/cookie sales• Avon Sales• Donut Sales• Car wash• Raffle ticket sales• Possible spaghetti dinner

• Friday, October 29th 11:00 – 1:30• Need workers and donations• Most important – sell tickets• Jay Deaver – donated his time to cook BBQ• Lunch – 6 oz. BBQ, baked beans, slaw, chips, drink, dessert - $10.00• Dinner for 4 – BBQ, beans, slaw, chips - $25.00• 1 lb. of BBQ - $10.00• Whole Boston Butt - $25.00

customer• Drive thru service at soccer field• Each customer will be personally thanked and given a fact

sheet about REaCH as they leave• Thank you notes will be sent to all business donors• Free REaCH t-shirt given for orders over $50.00 (L, XL, 2
