CYO FOOTBALL The Corpus Christi Cougar Football program is for
students in grades 5th - 8th from the following parishes: Corpus Christi, Mary Mother of the Redeemer, St. Rose of Lima & St. Stanislaus.
JV football is comprised of 5th and 6th graders and Varsity is 7th and 8th. Both levels embrace CYO culture while fostering an environment dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of football, skill development and sportsmanship. Pre-season conditioning begins mid July. Football camp begins mid August and runs Monday through Thursday until the school year begins, where the schedule moves to 2-3 three days per week depending on game times. All practices are held at Jack's Lane football field located behind Corpus Christi church. Both levels typically play 1 preseason game the weekend after Labor Day followed by an 8 game regular season schedule.
There is no experience necessary and beginners are welcome. Both teams play an A schedule & B schedule. B schedule is specifically designed for players with limited experience so they are competing against like opponents. These games typically take place Sunday afternoons. A schedule would be considered the more competitive format & those games always take place on Saturday mornings/afternoons. After summer camp & during the season, the coaching staff will designate players to the appropriate game to ensure player safety is paramount.
Both JV & Varsity also compete in the A Divisions for the Parade of Champions title. This is a playoff format much different from other CYO sports. A playoff tournament very similar to NFL playoff pits the best of the best in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Players from the Cougar program have gone on to complete great high careers at schools Lansdale Catholic, LaSalle, North Penn & Souderton.
