Thisisalocalbasedtermsposition RwandaInitiativeforSustainableDevelopment(RISD)isanon-profitlocalorganizationthatstarteditsoperations inRwanda in July1997and is registeredas anon-profitmakingorganizationunderregistrationno.090/11ofthegazettenoticeof28thAugust2003andupdateditsregistrationtoalignwiththenewNGOLawof2012,on25thOctober2013.RISD’s program intervention is in the area of Policy Research and Advocacy. RISD’s success andprofile is rooted in its capacity to develop to influence policies through effective dialogue and ininitiating and sustaining diversified networks and partnership. The primary partners being thecommunity,as thebeneficiarieswhodetermineRISD’spriorities,basedontheirneeds in termsofpolicies that affect themdirectly. LandNetRwandaChapter is a keynetworkwhereRISDplays anactiverolesince2000andthenetworkplaysanactiveroleinthelandrights.RISDisunderstoodasamodelcivilsocietybothincountry,regionallyandinternationally,becauseofitsindependencyandeffectivepolicyrelateddialogueskillsandexperiencecombinedwithactionresearchapproachthatprovidereliablesocialrelateddata.Effective from June 2017, RISD launched a two and half years’ project titled “Social ProtectionthroughSecuringLandRights”. This isanationalproject thatwillbe implementedbetween2017through2019.Thisisthe1stprojectofitskindbothinRwandaandtheregion,whichaimsatlinkingthe social protection to land, given that over 80% in the region are still dependent on land forlivelihood. This will be achieved through working with the government to include land rightscomponent in the Rwanda Social Protection Policy. The implementation of the project will bedominatedwith the gathering of reliable data on the policy implementation, andmonitoring thechange on the beneficiaries, who are the vulnerable, on the assumed faster and sustainablegraduation from vulnerability. Hence, research, monitoring, advocacy and legal support in theprotectionofthesecuringlandrightsofthevulnerablewillbefourmaincomponentoftheproject.Hence,RISDwishestorecruitahighlycompetent,experiencedanddynamic,ProjectOfficerforthisnewlyestablishedSocialProtectionProject.JobDutiesandResponsibilitiesinclude,butarenotlimitedto:
• Todevelopfieldplansoftheproject;• Tocoordinatefieldwork;• Tocompiletimelyandprofessionalfieldreports;• Tocoordinate(nationaland/orinternational)meetingsandworkshopsrelatedtothe
project;• Toproducetimelyandprofessionalmeetingreports;
• ToworkcloselywiththeITteaminprovidingandmanagingthegathereddatathroughRISD-ICT4D;
• Tomonitoranddocumentcasestoriesfromthefieldandoutofdatabaseforadvocacyandpolicysupport.
• OtherDutiesasassignedbysupervisor. RequiredQualifications&Skills
• Bachelor’sdegreeorhigherinSocialSciences,Law,EconomicDevelopmentorrelatedfield;• TrainingProjectManagementandsocialresearchmethodologies;• Conductingneedsassessmentsandsurveys,andquantitativedataanalysis;• Socialandactionresearchmethodologies;• Goodunderstandingofsocialprotectionandnationalpolicies;• Goodcommunicationskills,interpersonal,andstrongtechnicalanalysisandwritingskills,
teamplayer,abletoworkwithminimalsupervisioninafast-pacedenvironment;• ProfessionalfluencyinKinyarwandaandEnglish.Frenchisanaddedadvantage.• Goodcomputerskills(Word,Excel,PowerPointdesign&presentation,Outlook&email
