about chemistry? Why study chemistry? What is one thing that you want to know

about me?

Objective:Today I will be able to:

Explore the interactions between milk and food coloring when detergent is added.

Construct a PRIDE pactUnderstand the expectations and requirements

method?

How does it work? What macromolecules are found in whole

milk? (Hint: look at the nutrition label if you do not know).

Why did the detergent break the surface tension, but the food dye did not?

OwnershipHow can we demonstrate ownership in lab?

PRIDE pactWhat is the goal of this class? What do you need to be successful in this

class? How do you want the teacher to treat you?How do you want to treat one another? How do you want your peers to treat you? What happens when this treatment does not

Food for Thought Why does popcorn pop? How do they make the fire green in Harry Potter? (besides magic

obviously) Why do we put salt on the roads to melt ice? How do we make different colors in fireworks? Curly hair vs. straight hair? Why do I salt to the water to cook pasta? What is fire? How does water pressure affect SCUBA divers? What am I eating ...understanding the sides of food labels? Why can't I hard-boil  an egg by putting it in boiling water?  What are diamonds? Are there multiple realities? ... Shrodingers cat  Why are peppers spicy? What happened to the mad hatter?
