groundbreakingfortheirpooladditionandchildcareexpansion.Itstartedwithavision,planning,andperseverance.ItisexcitingandrewardingtoseethisexpansionandknowthatIhadapartofthatdreambecomingareality.

ThisyearinRotaryislikeagroundbreaking.Westartwithavision,planning,andperseverance.OneofmygoalsforRotarywastobemorevisibleinthecommunity.WearemovingforwardwiththatgoalastheMemorialPlaquesattheVeteransMemorialParkhavejustbeendedicatedwithmanyMassillonRotarianspresent.JudgeEddieledthatprojectwithfirstavision,planningandperseverance.Itisnowareality.

TheCOOLprojectthatourclubparticipatedinwasanotheropportu-nityseizedforclubmemberstoshowwhatRotariansdowhenthereisaneed.Wehelpedprovideameal,“cool”waterforthevolunteersandhelpedleadactivitiesinthechildren’stent.Rotarians:Present,visible,andhandson.That’sexactlywhatI’menvisioningforourclubinthefuture.Comingtogetherforthegreatergoodandmakingthingshappeninourcommunity.

Wearenowmovingforwardwithanothergoaltoincreasemember-ships.Wehaveseveralapplicantstoconsiderandhopefullytobringthemonboardinthenearfuture.Committeesarebeingformedandmembersaresteppingup.Ittakesplanningtogrowtogethertosupporteachotherandourcommunity.TheRotaryClubofMassillonismovingintherightdirectionasourvisionbecomesareality.

Board Of Directors Meeting NotesTheBoardofDirectorsmetatKozmo’sGrilleonMonday,July8th.Thefol-

lowingaresomeitemsofinterestfromthatmeeting.ThepercentageofactivemembersattendingthefourclubmeetingsinJune

was52%.Withrecenttransfersandnewmembersthetotalnumberofactivemembersnowstandsat70.

TimBryanadvisedtheBoardthattherehadbeenaslightdelayinmovingCambodianProjectforwardduetotherecentseverefloodinginthepartsofCanadawheretheprimarysponsorsoftheprojectarelocated.

JaneVassashasbeenappointedtoserveaschairpersonoftheCommunityServiceCommittee.

Sincewehaveanumberofnewmembers,theBoardisconsideringwaysthatwecaninsurethatannouncementsofupcomingclubprojectsandactivitiescontainasufficientdescriptionofthoseevents,inordertoprovidethenewermembersaclearerunderstandingofthoseactivities.

PresidentShultzannouncedthatsheisseekingavolunteertoprovidetheweeklyemailremindersforclubmeetings,andalsoavolunteertomaintainandprovideupdatesfortheHomePageontheclub’swebsite.

TheLincolnTheatreiscurrentlyworkingagainstaJanuary1,2014deadlinetopurchaseandinstallanewdigitalprojectionsystem,whichisrequiredbylaw.Withoutthenewsystemthetheatrewillbeforcedtodiscontinuetheshowingofmoviestothepublic.Thenewsystemwillcost$70,000.Thetheatreiscurrentlyownedandoperatedbyalocalnot-for-profitfoundation,andthatfoundation’sboardhasbeenablesecureaportionoftherequiredfunds,butasubstantialamountofworkremainstobedonebeforeallofthenecessarymoneycanberaise.

TheLion’sClub,whichhasbeenthedrivingforcebehindtheefforttoreno-vateandsustaintheLincolnTheatreoverthepastseveraldecades,haspledgedtosupportandassistinthiseffort,butitsboarddoesnotfeelthattheclubcur-rentlyhastheresourcestoprovidetheprimaryleadershipforthiscampaign.Becauseofitsstandinginthecommunityanditsarrayofleadershipresources,theRotaryClubofMassillonhasbeenaskedbycommunityleaderstoprovidetheprimaryleadershipforthisproject.TheMassillonRotaryBoardofDirectorshasendorsedthisprojectasaRotaryprojectandwill,incollaborationwiththeMassillonRotaryFoundation,takealeadershiproleinthiseffort.

ThenextregularlyscheduledmeetingoftheBoardofDirectorswillbeTues-day,August6th,at11:30am,atKozmo’sGrille.
